Lab Planner Responsibilities
- Design innovative spaces that define modern laboratories and cleanrooms.
- Play a key role in project teams, contributing to all phases of design.
- Provide support in lab facility planning, including:
- Fit-out planning & equipment coordination
- Construction administration
- Collaborate directly with clients, including senior management, scientists, lab managers, technicians, and facilities teams to document program requirements.
- Offer technical expertise in planning and programming for various facilities, such as:
- Healthcare & medical device manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical & biotech labs
- Academic research & emerging tech facilities
- Lead user group meetings to gather lab specifications and needs.
- Develop a deep understanding of client requirements, standards, and policies.
- Assist in design development, modifications, and reviews of lab planning concepts.
- Communicate planning ideas through sketches, reports, and presentations.
- Produce architectural drawings, elevations, sections, and details.
- Troubleshoot design and technical challenges while adhering to standards.
- Potentially lead project meetings and presentations, keeping clients informed.
- Prepare design drawings, models, and presentations for client review.
Required Skills
- Passion for designing laboratories and cleanrooms in technical facilities.
- Knowledge of regulatory and technical lab design requirements.
- Understanding of lab programming, including space planning, equipment layout, MEP systems, and casework.
- Experience in lab planning, design, construction documentation, and cost control.
- Strong hand-drafting and advanced CAD skills.
- Proficiency inAutoCAD/Architectural Desktop(preferred).
- Proficiency inMS Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Engineering, Laboratory Planning and Design, or a related field.
- Additional certifications inlab design, biosafety, or facility planning(preferred).
