Lab Monitor, PT Posted on 7/24/2025 Accepting applications About this position The part-time lab monitor is responsible for monitoring the central computer help desk in the Rinker Technology Center during second shift. The position is responsible for handling requests for technical assistance by students, faculty and staff and handling such in a timely fashion to provide excellent customer service while under minimal supervision. We are currently hiring for two positions with different shift schedules. Please review the options below and indicate your availability when applying:Shift Option 1:Academic Year (Fall and Spring)
- Sunday: 3:00PM - 11:00PM
- Monday to Wednesday: 5:00PM - 11:00PM
Summer Schedule
- Monday to Friday: 12:00PM - 5:00PM
Shift Option 2:Academic Year (Fall and Spring)
- Wednesday to Thursday: 5:00PM - 11:00PM
- Friday: 3:00PM - 9:00PM
- Saturday: 10:00AM - 6:00PM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Respond to requests for technical assistance via phone, email and in-person from all campus constituents such as students, employees and vendors. Including, but not limited to:- Referring users to other information sources (handouts, manuals, websites)
- Providing general help with computer operations and software features
- Helping with special campus supported software packages
- Managing password resets as necessary and appropriate
Help campus constituents troubleshoot a variety of technical issues for various hardware and software including but not limited to mobile devices, laptops, computers, Microsoft suite, Adobe suite, and college-specific systems such as email, network, or the Portal.Document reported issues to communicate to level 2 or 3 technical staff for higher level assistance as needed.Submit or help user submit technical request tickets for technical issues beyond lab monitors area of expertise.Develops and maintains positive working relationships with technology staff and communicates relevant information which impacts faculty, staff and students.Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, professional contacts with colleagues, and attending training and/or courses required by the Lab Manager or ITS Director.Ensures that the knowledge required to provide computer lab support is current by learning new hardware and software capabilities when they become adopted for use by the College.SECONDARY FUNCTIONS
Contact vendors when appropriate for assistance with systems.Monitor incidents reported to help desk queue to ensure timely completion.Contributes to the success of the department by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.About our ideal candidate EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
