  • Hillcrest Medical Center is a 656-bed hospital that includes The Alexander Burn Center, The Peggy V. Helmerich Women's Health Center, Kaiser Rehabilitation Center, the latest technology for the treatment of cancer, and the Oklahoma Heart Institute.
Responsibilities

The Certified Laboratory Coordinator functions as a professional who has evidence of advanced technical knowledge within their assigned area of the laboratory. Oversees, coordinates, and participates in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.

  • Oversees point of care testing within clinical laboratory operations, serving as the coordinator and expert in the assigned area.
  • May work with multiple departments within the laboratory or across the hospital/health system.
  • Supports organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

  • Attains required competency and demonstrates the ability to follow procedural directions and protocols.

  • Participates in the training/mentoring of new employees, students or interns including lectures and bench techniques.

  • Demonstrates proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, performs proper prompt specimen transport.

  • Promotes consensus building and applies techniques of conflict resolution and conduct improvement.

  • Retains accountability for quality of care given to the patient.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or Physical Science.

    OR

  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician.

  • ASCP or equivalent.

    o Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment. If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) or Medical Laboratory Technician (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.

  • Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years' of clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.
