We are committed to delivering high-quality, sustainably sourced ingredients that support innovation and clean-label formulations.Job Purpose Summary:The Lab Associate plays an integral role in ensuring the quality of our product in alignment with Adams Vegetable Oils mission to provide safe, quality products to our partners in an evolving world. The Lab Associate will support Operations, Procurement, and Sales by determining quality parameters for incoming, work in process, and outgoing products in accordance with Food Safety and Research & Development efforts. Special projects related to these testing parameters may also be assigned. The Lab Associate is responsible to maintain a safe and clean environment in the lab and to care for lab equipment.Food Safety Policy:Adams Group is committed to producing and distributing high quality products through adherence to industry and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Perform inbound, outbound, and work in progress product testing according to SOP methods with a variety of equipment including auto-titrators, GC-FID, GC-MS, ICP Research equipment issues & follow troubleshooting processesReview published methods & provide feedback on internal SOPs Always follow fail procedures to notify appropriate parties of out of spec resultsUse knowledge of recent quality results to add supporting context when communicating fail proceduresInput accurate results in the ERP system, supported by knowledge of products, process, and specifications. Perform data analysis on testing results to support management decisionsWork with AVO Admin team and/or plant management to troubleshoot simple ERP errorsAssist the Operations & R&D teams with special projects including custom blend formulations, identifying oil types, tracking out of specification batch results, and other requests as neededConduct Planned Maintenance routines on equipment per schedule or as neededManage documentation storage, sample inventories, retains, and rotations to and from storage in a safe and organized manner.Learn new equipment or testing protocols or parameters in support of evolving company effortsPull samples in a safe, clean manner from all accessible sampling areas in the plant, including zone sample handling and cleaningPrioritize sample management and testing to align with managements prioritiesManage samples with third party labs including, but not limited to, accurate shipping, receiving, order forms, and data entryManage sales sample requests including additional testing, labeling, packaging, and shippingSupport Team Lead with tracking of all consumable lab materialsPre-operational inspections and ATP swabbing, including inspection of hoses, lines and tanksPre-operational inspection and ATP swabbing of Lecithin filling systemPrioritize safety in the lab at all times. Other duties and special projects, as assignedQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelors degree preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or equivalent field of study1-3 years applicable lab experience, in academic and/or industry settings Familiarity with analytical equipment such as ICP-OES, GC-FID, and GC-MS a plusMust be proficient in reading, speaking and writing in English for the purpose of record keeping, safety and quality training processesQualifications:Strong communication skillsAbility to analyze data and make determinations Ability to follow written and verbal direction and work with minimal supervisionAbility to work in high pressure situationsComfortable working with dataEffectively communicate and provide lab support to multiple functional groups throughout the companyAble to use and maintain a wide variety of equipment; may be asked to perform basic troubleshootingMust be proficient in reading, speaking and writing in English for the purpose of record keeping, safety and quality training processes.Strong level of discretion, professionalism and attention to detail.Working Conditions:Available to work overtime including some weekendsWilling to work in any of our operating locations (Arbuckle and Woodland)Prolonged periods of standing Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
