Position Summary: The Family Finder position is responsible for locating and engaging relatives and connections for youth in foster care. A Family Finder's goal is to find a relative or NRKIN placement for that youth, but if placement cannot be identified, Family Finders strive to build a community of connections for that youth. Location: Olathe KS - This position has a hybrid work schedule. Paperwork and logs may be done at home; however, the position is primarily in the community completing home visits, supporting families, and includes an on-call rotation. Education: Bachelor's degree in the social services field and previous experience with children and family services preferred Experience: Bachelor's degree in the social services field and previous experience with children and family services preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current, valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance required Essential Duties:
- Achieving the goals of the kinship department.
- Training KVC staff and community partners in Family Finding and the importance of kin connections.
- Maintaining communication with DCF, courts, and community partners.
- Interviewing children, parents, and caregivers to identify potential family connections.
- Attending court hearings and facilitating family meetings to build support networks.
- Conducting searches for relatives using various tools and resources.
- Utilizing Family Finding techniques such as mobility mapping and genograms to strengthen a child's network.
- Completing required paperwork and documentation.
- Reporting suspected abuse or neglect as mandated.
- Providing transportation and attending required trainings.
