POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Youth & Teen Services the KIPP Middle School Site Director is responsible for the supervision, operation, development, and implementation of dynamic out of school time programs for students at KIPP Bayview Academy. Highly collaborative, the KIPP Site Director builds and maintains strong and productive relationships with and among youth, families, Bayview YMCA staff, partner organizations, and community members of the Bayview Hunters Point District. They should be adept at working in a fast-paced environment with students of color and thinking fast on their feet. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Implements and monitors program budget and ensures compliance with funders; inputs all program purchases into expense tracker. 2. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates program staff. 3. Manages initiatives to identify community needs, establish program priorities, and execute strategic plans to address these needs and priorities. a. Understands and meets the program and content requirements of the grant funding, including (but not limited to) skill building activities, sequenced curriculum, access to leadership development opportunities, family partnership, socioemotional learning development, academic support activities and grade specific transition activities. b. Implements revised program design and fresh strategies as needed to better meet needs of KIPP Bayview Academy youth and their families. 4. Meets the required average daily attendance of the program by effectively recruiting and retaining youth by: a. Creates and distributes flyers and other recruiting strategies. b. Coordinates with partners schedule to develop recruit plan special to each school community. c. Identifies community spaces appropriate for program recruitment. d. Builds relationships with families and community leaders. e. Collects and organizes all paperwork required for registration; and f. Maintains information in database. 5. Provides on-going training and support for program staff, including: a. Holding regular staff meetings. b. Developing and implementing staff trainings. c. Being present in activities to observe program leaders in action. d. Providing ongoing feedback about accomplishments and areas for improvement. e. Ensuring staff complete mandatory YMCA trainings and seek out other training opportunities as needed; and f. Performing annual written evaluations in compliance with agency policies and procedures. 6. Works collaboratively with the KIPP Bayview Academy Student Support Team to ensure plans are created for students with behavior, 504, and/or IEP plans. 7. Develops strong partnerships with KIPP Bayview Academy staff, including school administration, counselors, and teachers, secretaries, and security guards. 8. Coordinates quarterly presentations and celebrations of young adults' work, including end of semester showcases. 9. Research possible field trips and guest instructors for enhancement of program. 10. Develops and facilities family partnership strategies and communicates with parents of participants on as-needed basis. 11. Leads site's evaluation efforts include the Youth Program Quality Assessment process and administration of program surveys. 12. Participates in ongoing professional development throughout the year. 13. Promote, coordinate, and supervise the branch-based summer camp program in collaboration with Summer Camp Director. 14. Communicates with parents of participants on regular basis. 15. Manages administrative tasks, including but not limited to database entry timecard reviews, attendance entry, and budget management. 16. Leads academic and/or enrichment programming; is in ratio during program to ensure all program zones are running when needed. 17. Attends KIPP Bayview Academy professional development trainings and experiences. 18. Implement the Power Scholars Academy academic program model during the school year and during summer programming. 19. Participates in YMCA of San Francisco's Youth Development POD working groups as requested. 20. Develops and implements a personal goal-driven work plan and an annual action plan identifying program activities and deadlines for deliverables; meets the goals and deadlines identified in the action plan. 21. Complete all mandatory ADP LMS safety training and Y-USA e-Learning before the first shift in the facility. 22. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required. 23. - Must be at least 23 years of age
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
- 3 years or more working with youth in an organized setting and 2 or more years of proven staff development, supervision, and training
- Passion for social justice and knowledge of the Bayview Hunters Point community, its residents, and a desire to make a difference
- A commitment to providing young people with the highest-quality youth development experience
- Must be knowledgeable about youth development program design and planning, administration and evaluation, child abuse reporting laws, After School standards, as well as knowledge and awareness of a wide variety of out of school activities
- Must be a talented multi-tasker and an independent worker who is adept at working on a team, thrives in a start-up environment and maintains a flexible and positive attitude
- Must have the ability to develop positive relationships with youth, adults, parents, staff, teachers, administration, the Y, and community members
- Must be able to work independently, have consistent follow through and demonstrate good judgment
- Excellent organizational skills and multi-project/multi-task oriented, including experience scheduling and coordinating multiple fun and education-focused activities for youth
- Must know how to grow, motivate, and maintain a strong new team
- Experience working with middle school students in an urban area
- Team player with proven ability to work with people from a variety of different ethnic, socio economic, educational, religious, sexual, and generational backgrounds

PREF PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
