Junior Operations Technician

The Multi-Domain Solutions (MDS) division is seeking a Junior Operations Technician who is responsible for assisting with the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems that support a large facility complex. These systems include central plants, boilers, chillers, HVAC systems, generators, power distribution units, and building automation systems. The technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of essential infrastructure that supports building operations and production processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor key building systems such as boilers, chillers, HVAC units, generators, pumps, and transformers.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical systems, including preventive and corrective work.
- Respond to equipment alarms, system malfunctions, and operational issues, taking appropriate action under supervision.
- Monitor system performance using gauges, manual readings, and automated control systems.
- Collect and analyze operational data to detect inefficiencies or potential equipment failures.
- Ensure compliance with established safety procedures, operational standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support emergency response efforts for equipment failures, power outages, or other critical incidents.
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance activities, and system performance.
- Communicate with team members and supervisors to report issues, request assistance, or provide updates.
Basic Qualifications
- TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 24 years of relevant experience in facilities management, operations, or space planning.
- Working knowledge of facilities operations, maintenance, and space utilization.
- Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and energy-efficient facility practices.
- Basic experience in budgeting, cost tracking, and vendor coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, floor plans, and site layouts.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to interact with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Capable of handling routine problem-solving related to space allocation and maintenance needs.
- Proficient with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word) and basic facility management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing facilities or office space planning in a corporate, government, or institutional setting.
- Professional certifications (e.g., IFMA's Facility Management Professional (FMP) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM)).
- Advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and building automation systems.
- Demonstrated experience in project planning, project scheduling, and contract management.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or facility management software.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, lead small teams, and influence cross-functional initiatives.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy efficiency improvements in building operations.
