The Office's Bureau of Information Systems provides comprehensive technology support services, including strategic planning, web development, graphic design, disaster recovery, systems development, network administration, AV services, business process re-engineering, change management, program management, security, service desk, operations, telecommunications, and document management.

The Junior .Net Developer will be part of a talented Application Development team. Responsibilities include maintaining existing applications on MS Access/VBA and the .NET framework, participating in new development, and collaborating with senior personnel across Bureaus. The role requires attention to detail, good design principles, teamwork, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance existing MS Access/VBA Applications;
  • Design, develop, test, support, and deploy custom web applications in a .NET environment;
  • Create and update software documentation;
  • Ensure compliance with software processes and procedures;
  • Support team members on multiple projects;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

This position is open only to current City of New York employees in permanent civil service titles of Computer Associate (Software) or Computer Programmer Analyst. Please specify your civil service title on your resume and cover letter.

  • For Computer Associate (Software) - 13631:
  • A bachelor's degree with at least 24 credits in computer science or a related field and one year of full-time experience in relevant areas; or
  • A high school diploma and five years of relevant experience; or
  • Equivalent education and experience, with specific substitutions allowed as detailed.
Preferred Skills
  • 2+ years of development experience with C#, .NET, MS Access/VBA;
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, SSIS scripting, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap, SharePoint, PowerApps, Visual Studio, TFS, Azure DevOps, Web services, XML, XSL, XSLT;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
