Junior Computer Operator/Scheduler
DDC-IT Services is seeking individuals to fill the role of Junior Computer Operator/Scheduler. Active Secret Clearance and eligibility to acquire a Top Secret Clearance is required for this role. Job duties and responsibilities include:
- Monitor, utilize, operate, and reporting for Data Facility System Managed Storage (DFSMS) suite of products such as Removable Media Manager (RMM), Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM), and Data Facility Product (DFP).
- Monitor DFHSM daily/nightly backups and dumps.
- Provide IBM Mainframe support including performing IPL in a highly-complex mainframe operating environment.
- Control the startup and shutdown of tasks and subsystems both manually and using System Automation resources.
- Utilize a Windows-based personal computer workstation and the MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word), Internet browsers, Mainframe Terminal Emulation Software, and ticketing software.
- Monitor PIPS and remote printers; report any issues through a designated incident-reporting channel.
- Observe and report any password or other security incidents related to PIPS; reset PIPS passwords.
- Monitor and maintain the stability of systems and resources in the mainframe environment using performance/workload monitoring tools. Monitor peripheral equipment, master console, and remote and local printers.
- Monitor the PIPS application; execute batch jobs in accordance with published schedules; process and print reports; and perform quality control functions related to the batch jobs.
- Prepare and distribute (route) reports to the appropriate OPM or contractor site.
- Verify documentation in TSO for jobs run through TWS.
- Deliver CRIS reports to the ROC area once daily.
- Maintain and order Computer Room supplies, pick up print supplies and deliver to the computer room as needed.
- Print, process and distribute all print files in accordance with established SOP.
- Maintain an equipment inventory.
- Maintain logbooks or operating records that document job completion and any significant events such as machine malfunctions.
- Operate Computer Room equipment such as printers, communications devices, etc.
- Perform routine maintenance on printers, to include but is not limited to change printer toner, fix paper jams, clean, load paper, etc.
- Responsible for performing file transfers utilizing all available methods in accordance with established SOP. Current methods are Host On-Demand (HOD) software on a PC.
- The operator is responsible to logon to TSO (mainframe) and Microsoft Outlook to monitor jobs; job completion status will be available in one or both sources through completion codes or email messages.
- Provide real-time accurate monitoring and troubleshooting of multiple mainframe systems and applications and contact a support person for alert messages from Dashboard Management Reporting System (DMRS) in accordance with the SOP.
- Contractors shall support tracking status of mainframe Change Management which include Change Requests and Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI).
- Perform incident management including investigation, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and resolution (e.g.: job abends, system performance degradation, network monitoring/recovery, workload monitoring/recovery). Notification of problems come from several sources: customers, designated incident-reporting channel, Team Leaders, and Shift Supervisor. Provide incident management follow-up including ticket updates and resolution verification with Mission Partners. (MPs)
- Troubleshoot problems to minimize interruptions in the customer's critical business activities. The contractor shall proactively identify and resolve system performance bottlenecks.
- Use approved tools and follow polices in conducting change management tasks to include acceptance, receipt of upgrades, monitoring of implementation, and interruptions in service for upgrades/system patches.
- Contact customer for required system reporting such as: unannounced outages, service interruptions, and system restoral. These must fall within customer requirements/standards documentation.
- Create, delete, and modify application user accounts IAW access requests received by the MP and/or Terminal Area Security Officer.
- Use government documented processes and procedures to request and download required software, software patches and documentation.
- Adhere to DoD and U.S. Cyber Command Directives, and local policies for security access, processes, and regulations.
- Exhibit effective and professional interpersonal skills to include written and oral communications.
- Use Information Technology Infrastructure Library processes and procedures to document implementation of application software implementations and upgrades using government specified processes and procedures.
- Support DOD Cyber Security requirements, Authority to Operate (ATO) preparation, and security audits.
Job Requirements (Education/Skills/Experience):
- Active Secret Clearance and eligibility to acquire a Top Secret Clearance
- Working knowledge of the IBM Enterprise Server environment.
- Understanding of z/OS, Time Share Option (TSO), Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS), and Job Entry Subsystem 2 (JES2), CICS, Virtual Telecommunications Access Method (VTAM), and must develop a thorough understanding of the Personal Investigations Processing System (PIPS) application job stream.
- Associate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math and two years' experience with an IT Service Desk/Service Operations experience. Or Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math and one year experience with an IT Service Desk/Service Operations experience. Or High School diploma/GED and three years' experience with an IT Service Desk/Service Operations experience with one year focused on IT customer support
