Position Summary The Junior Cash Accountant supports the organization's financial operations by ensuring accurate tracking and recording of cash transactions. This role is primarily responsible for daily cash management, bank reconciliations, and assisting with the preparation of journal entries and reports. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to the mission of a nonprofit organization. Job ResponsibilitiesCash Management
- Record daily cash receipts and disbursements across multiple accounts.
- Support cash forecasting and liquidity reporting.
Bank Reconciliation
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
Accounting & Journal Entries
- Assist in the preparation and posting of journal entries related to cash transactions.
Month-End and Year-End Close
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Financial Records & Audit Support
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit and reporting purposes.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
Financial Reporting & Collaboration
- Collaborate with other finance team members to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Communicate with program and development staff to resolve discrepancies in donations and deposits.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR equivalent work experience
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
- Familiarity with fund accounting or donor-restricted funds
- Knowledge of accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar
