The Triage Coordinator / Triage Coordinator-Transplant (TC) is responsible for responding to incoming calls from hospitals and other referring agencies for both initial and update calls, collecting data regarding potential donors to determine if they are candidates for donation, and informing the caller of donation potential. This position also handles all organ allocation processes related to donation, transplantation, and research. Additionally, the TC conducts medical interviews via phone with transplant patients or their designees to update their medical records concerning their transplant waitlist status. They are also responsible for the Fresh Tissue process regarding tissue testing on grafts and related data entry projects.

Responsibilities
Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally.Respond to caller needs for guidance and information.Follow computer prompts to complete referral messages and organ import offers accurately.Obtain necessary medical information from potential donors and document it clearly.Conduct state donor registry checks for potential donors.Memorize key medical abbreviations and computer codes for documentation.Place outbound calls to involved agencies per protocol.Relay case status information to relevant agencies.Log all fresh tissue graft cases and follow up on test results.Conduct medical interviews with transplant patients as per protocol and enter data accordingly.Perform lab data entry for related projects/services.Document organ import offers and contact relevant personnel promptly.Evaluate all organ offers for transplant or research, including clinical evaluation and test results.Communicate with OPOs, labs, and medical staff regarding active cases until a decision is made.Demonstrate proficiency in process and quality investigations and report findings.Perform quality assurance on referral calls, tissue processes, and organ allocation.Maintain and improve technical skills through ongoing education and training.Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.Qualifications
- High School Diploma / G.E.D. with medically related coursework or certification.
- Minimum 3 years of medical background or training (e.g., EMT, Paramedic, LPN, RN, EMS dispatcher).
- Completion of coursework in Human Anatomy and Physiology.
- Relevant certifications/licensure (e.g., EMT, CNA).
- Proficiency in technical and business writing.
- Strong customer service, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
- Typing speed of at least 30 WPM.
- Ability to adapt, multi-task, problem-solve, and work in a flexible environment.
