Justice Initiatives is a specialized department that provides comprehensive, holistic services for individuals 18 years of age and older with current or former involvement in the criminal legal system through operating the following programs: Reentry, Alternative to Incarceration, Emergency and Transitional Housing and Cannabis Retail Training (CREATE). The Reentry Program provides in-custody and post-release services to individuals who have had contact with the criminal legal system in the past three years. The services include case management, connection to vocational counseling and career advisement services, job training, connection to continuing education and hard skills trainings, paid internships and employment placement assistance. Reporting to the Workforce Development Program Manager, the Job Developer will be primarily responsible for developing relationships with NYC employers to create career pathways for participants and work alongside the integrated care team to provide workforce development training and support with program participants. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals who are justice-involved, knowledge of the criminal legal system and have current established relationships with NYC employers, hiring managers or career training programs. Responsibilities: Primary:
- Develop and maintain relationships and Employer Linkage Agreements with NYC employers or hiring managers.
- Develop career pathways and employment connections in a variety of industry sectors.
- Participate in job fairs, resource fairs or other community events to promote the program and develop partnerships.
- Facilitate work readiness and soft skills development groups.
- Conduct individual counseling sessions with program participants focused on enhancing work readiness and matching participants with available employment opportunities.
- Assist with developing or updating participant resumes.
- Assist program participants with submitting employment applications.
- Maintain accurately and timely charting within the electronic case record systems.
- Co-facilitate quarterly Employer Roundtable events with the Program Manager and active employer and training partners.
- Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences as needed.
- Provide crisis intervention support as needed.
- Submit daily, weekly and monthly reports timely.
- Promote Housing Works' core values (All-in, Stronger Together, High Performance and Membership) in day to day activities.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Secondary:
- Provide culturally competent services in accordance to Housing Works policies and practices.
- Ability to work with clients with diverse clients with varying levels of service needs.
- Works collaboratively with other team members within the Justice Initiatives Department and cross-agency.
Other functions that may be required with this position include:
- Attend and participate staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Responsiveness to emails, texts and phone calls.
- Adhere to remote workforce policies, procedures and protocols.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma required. Bachelor's Degree preferred in human services, psychology, business or other related field.
The following are qualifications and requirements of the position:
- Minimum 2 years of experience providing direct client service.
- Experience working with justice-involved or justice-impacted individuals with varying level of care needs.
- Strong written documentation and communication skills
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, required
- Experience utilizing EMR systems.

- Preferably bi-lingual in Spanish.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent or proficient technical skills to perform tasks related to Microsoft Office, email and case management systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the team.
- Dependability and reliability to arrive and depart timely for scheduled shift.
- Ability to frequently travel within the boroughs via public transportation.
