JOB COACH - SPECIAL EDUCATION WORK PROGRAM Job Coach - Special Education Work Program Level AA1 - 9 months - 6 hours NOTE: The successful candidate will work directly with hospital staff and employees to develop entry level jobs requiring the candidate to maintain a high level of visibility and professionalism as well as a positive, friendly relationship among hospital staff and employees. Description: The job Coach is directly responsible to the STEP Coordinator for implemntation of all job coaching procedures, and for on-site direct supervision and training assigned for these services. Qualifications:
- Must hold a paraprofessional license with at least 60 credit hours or an associate's degree.
- Excellent public relations skills and communication skills with hospital staff, district employees and step coordinator
- Ability to supervise and train students on the job.
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to relate to students in a patient, consistent and positive manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to travel between Alton High School and St. Anthony's Hospital via school bus and supervise students
- Ability to troubleshoot and remediate problems
- Ability to learn various jobs within the hospital setting and train students in the job setting
- Ability to Ability to evaluate student's job performance and effectively remediate
- Ability to communicate with STEP Coordinator
- A current physical within two years required
- A current TB skin test required annually
- Current immunizations for measles, mumps and rubella
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ride the school bus with students daily
- Maintain student attendance
- Maintain appropriate records
- Maintain time sheets and time cards
- Maintain daily contact with STEP Coordinator
- Maintain daily communication with employers/supervisors
- Assist students with hospital uniforms as needed
- Develop new job experiences within the hospital
- Adapt jobs to students individual needs and provide one ot one ob training as needed
- Assist in developing student goals
- Supervise and remediate student's job performance
- Provide positive motivation to student workers Maintain communication with various departments at St. Anthony's Hospital
- Maintain confidentiality of students
- Maintain necessary state and federal records
- Be familiar with each client's disability, social and medical history, medication usage, transportation needs and precautionary measures
- Familiarize self with each job site's responsibilities, duties, rules and regulations
- Provide information and educate employers about various deisbilities
- Provide job analysis and recommendations when appropriate for modification of job or work sites
- Assist employers in the identifying, modifying or eliminating architectural, procedural and/or attitudinal barriers at the work site as needed
- Assist the STEP coordinator in the evaluation and development of the program and the implementation and revision of program needs
- Maintain a Job Coach Log that will include specific goals for the students, times, job coaching and any other necessary pertinent information.
- Attend to individual needs that affect job performance of the student.
- Be familiar with and enforce hospital policies
- Model appropriate dress and other work related expectations
- Any other related duties as assigned by the STEP Coordinator
