IT Trainer Information Technology Department (ITD) - Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) Salary Range: $85,813 to $85,813 + Washington State Employee Benefits FLSA - Full-time, Exempt Application deadline: 8/15/2025The WSBA's mission is to serve the public and the members of the Bar, to ensure the integrity of the legal profession, and to champion justice.Purpose and Position Summary: The IT Trainer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive training programs that enhance the technical skills and knowledge of employees within the organization. This role involves assessing training needs, creating instructional materials, and conducting training sessions on various technology-related topics, including software applications, hardware systems, and IT best practices. The IT Trainer aims to improve employee performance, productivity, and proficiency in using technology tools and systems, thereby supporting the organization's overall goals and objectives. This position requires strong communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to adapt training methods to meet the diverse learning needs of employees. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:Technical Training Tasks:
  • Design and Develop Training Programs: Create comprehensive training programs that cover various technology-related topics, including software applications, hardware systems, and IT best practices. Ensure that the training materials are up-to-date and relevant to the organization's needs.
  • Conduct Training Sessions: Deliver training sessions to employees, both in-person and virtually, to enhance their technical skills and knowledge. Adapt training methods to meet the diverse learning needs of employees.
  • Assess Training Needs: Collaborate with department heads and managers to identify training needs and develop customized training plans to address those needs. Conduct regular assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Create Instructional Materials: Develop instructional materials, such as manuals, guides, learning resources, videos, etc. to support training programs. Ensure that the materials are clear, concise, and easy to understand.
  • Provide Technical Support: Readily available to provide technical support to employees. Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that may arise. Provide individual support and tutoring as needed.
  • Maintain Training Records: Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible (to supervisors) records of training programs, attendance, and evaluations
  • Training logistics: Plan and manage the logistics of training sessions including scheduling, resources, and information technology
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Technology Trends Awareness: Continuously update knowledge of the emerging technology trends and advancements. Incorporate new technologies and best practices into training programs to ensure that employees are equipped with the most current information.
  • Provide Input on Technology Related Decisions: Provide feedback and direction on approaches to technology deployment that would help ensure successful launch and faster adoption.
Other Duties as AssignedEducation Required:
  • Associate degree in the field of technology or related field, and;
  • Formal training as a technical trainer
Education Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
Experience Required:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a technical trainer with proven program development responsibilities.
Competencies (Skills/Abilities) Required:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Applications: Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft 365 applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive. Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Copilot and its integration within the M365 suite
  • General Application Proficiency: Strong familiarity with a variety of general IT applications and tools, ensuring comprehensive training capabilities across different software environments
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent customer service skills to support users with varying levels of technical knowledge
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences and establish effective relationships with others
  • Judgment and Prioritization: Good judgment in assessing priorities and crafting practical workarounds
  • Multi-tasking: Ability to manage multiple, competing requests and prioritize accordingly
  • Training Methods: Experience with various training delivery methods, including live demonstrations both in-person and virtually, hybrid training, etc.
  • Professionalism: Present in a professional manner during all trainings, including when providing support during meetings or special events
  • Enthusiastic about helping to foster a culture of inclusion, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Possess a strong commitment to strengthening the WSBA by helping it reach mission-driven outcomes
Working Conditions: This position, while primarily remote is within Washington State, must be flexible to work in office (Seattle, WA) and travel within WA state as deemed necessary, or as required. This position may also have the option to work in-office. For remote work, must have an adequate home/work environment and internet access, for performing work of a highly sensitive and confidential nature. Employment with the Washington State Bar Association mandates that WSBA Staff must reside within the State of Washington at the time of hire, and during active employment status. The essential functions of the job that must be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation: This position must be able to regularly work five days per week in an office type environment (remote or in office), possess the ability to primarily sit/stand and use a computer, and lift/push/pull items weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be able to operate a computer keyboard, and other standard office equipment (e.g., printer, scanner, fax, telephone, etc.).
