DescriptionJob Title: IT Technician Department: IT Technician Reports to: IT SupervisorJOB FUNCTION: To provide support for the day-to-day operations of the IT department under the leadership of the IT Supervisor. The IT Technician will assist with install and maintain computer systems and networks aiming for the highest functionality. You will train users of the systems to make appropriate and safe usage of the IT infrastructure. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices routers, printers, etc.)
  • Check computer hardware (HDD, mouses, keyboards, etc.) to ensure functionality
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
  • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders
  • REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all the duties described in the proceeding in a safe, efficient, and competent manner. The requirements and conditions listed below are representative of the minimum levels of knowledge, skill, experience, and/or ability required.
  • Ability to follow technical and procedural documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow step-by-step instructions with accuracy
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Office 365 capabilities. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system
  • Knowledge of networking, network equipment, and cybersecurity.
  • Knowledge of file sharing protocols such as FTP, SFTP, and local network sharing.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer hardware with the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose issues, and replace components as necessary.
  • Knowledge of computer peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, and cameras.
  • Ability to provide first class technical support for all computer systems.
  • Ability to install and configure computer software.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication ability.
  • Perform duties efficiently, thoroughly, and responsibly, completing tasks on a timely basis
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to effectively prioritize responsibilities
  • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree or Associates degree in a computer related field (Preferred)
  • IT support 1 year (Preferred)
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • A+ Certification (Preferred)
  • Net + CompTIA Certification (Preferred)
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Basic mathematical ability (count, add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to hear, speak and understand the English language to respond promptly to verbal requests from employees for information or assistance, to answer telephones, and to be able to communicate effectively with company employees,
  • Ability to read, write, give/receive complex verbal instructions/descriptions of IT policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency to read and understand
  • Company handbooks, policies, and procedures and
  • Other written job-related documents including postings on company bulletin boards.
  • Ability to fill out forms and write reports
  • REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in circumstances where only limited standardization may exist.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in diagram, oral, schedule, or written forms.
  • OTHER SKILLS OR REQUIREMENTS:
  • Be fully knowledgeable in and thoroughly familiar with the company's procedures and policies with particular emphasis on OSHA and HAZCOM requirements.
  • Be able to perform all duties and responsibilities in an efficient and satisfactory manner that meets the minimum standards for productivity, accuracy, cleanliness, harmony, and safety
  • Must be able to work with sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other computer skills.
  • Proficient in typing.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Available to workdays and weekends as scheduled (extended hours on occasion)
  • Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene & appearance
  • Good interpersonal communications.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described below are representative of those that are required by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • To be able to sit for up to 8 hours per day.
  • To be able to look at a computer screen up to 8 hours per day.
  • To be able to use hands to type.
  • Work on tile or concrete flooring.
  • Move a maximum of 20 pounds up to 5 feet
  • Lift a maximum of 20 lbs. from 6 inches to 60 inches
  • Listen to phone.
  • Listen to co-workers' questions.
  • Listen to vendor questions/comments.
  • Communicate with vendors/co-workers.
  • Use the phone system.
