The IT Systems Support Manager will be responsible for support of applications and servers deployed throughout our Public Safety and Enterprise Departments. The position will be highly collaborative, working with all county departments, technical staff and vendors. The position requires experience in application support, server support and desktop support. Applicants must have excellent communication skills (both oral and written); sound judgment; and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

We are seeking someone who has the ability to understand applications from both the technical implementation and infrastructure side, as well as end-user functionality, and who has experience working with various application types (SaaS, IaaS, Server/Client, Thick Client, etc). In addition, assist with ensuring all systems are fully patched and cyber security threats are mitigated wherever possible to include hardware, firmware, OS and SQL security updates, application updates and cyber threat recommendations.

Applicants must be detail oriented, have an understanding of the IT systems development lifecycle and continuous process improvement methodologies, and possess organizational and problem solving skills. This applicant will work with staff to identify, troubleshoot, manage and drive troubleshooting issues through final resolution. This is a technical position and will require application and environment configuration, troubleshooting and deployment support

  • Provide applications and systems support to include support of all applications and environments

  • Provide backup support to Public Safety Systems Analyst to include server support and environments

  • Maintain server and application inventories to ensure that all pertinent information is up to date

  • Perform server backup and restoration activities to ensure reliability of backups

  • Perform server and some desktop patching and cyber security threat mitigation

  • Provide end-user support, troubleshooting of technical issues, and ensure quality control of related systems.

  • Implements and maintains purchased or leased software program products; conducts on-the-job training; works closely with OIT customers.

  • Develop system documentation such as training guides, architectural/interface diagrams or other support documentation

  • Technical competency in managing the day-to-day operations of information systems and interfaces.

  • Monitor various system portals and report on areas of improvement or action required

  • Participates with systems analysts or others to debug software problems; prepares the details of systems design under the direction of a systems analyst; leads others and participates in the development of programs for computer application of systems designs.

  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Thorough knowledge of the capabilities, programming techniques, and intricacies of modern programming languages.
  • Thorough knowledge of program requirements for conversion of mechanical and clerical processing to a computerized system.
  • Ability to see pertinent detail in symbols when reading, interpreting, or preparing charts, diagrams, and code sheets.
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex oral and written statements concerning a variety of fiscal and statistical problems.
  • Ability to interpret diagrammatic representations of work flow, to visualize flow of data through computer system, and to prepare logical flow charts.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative officials, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to lead others in the performance of their duties.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree, including or supplemented by courses in electronic computer programming, system analysis, and operating systems; and four (4) years experiences in the field of electronic computer programming NOTE: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for a total of eight (8) or more years of experience in electronic computer programming and/or a system support, application development or related field. Experience must still include or be supplemented by courses in electronic computer programming, system analysis, and operating systems NOTE: This position requires a full background check.Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following: 1.
