IT Support Specialist (Tier 2) – Contingent Hire (Pending Contract Award)

Bloomfield Hills, MI (Must reside within 100 miles)

Full-Time | Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business$22–$30/hour ($45,760–$62,400 annually), depending on experience & certifications

Mellott & Associates, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is preparing to support the City of Bloomfield Hills through a multi-year IT Managed Services contract—and we're seeking a Tier 2 IT Support Specialist to join our team contingent on contract award.

This is an ideal opportunity for a technically skilled, proactive support professional who thrives in a hybrid onsite/remote environment and wants to grow with a company on the rise in municipal and commercial IT services.

About the Role

You will serve as the primary onsite presence supporting the City of Bloomfield Hills' IT environment, while collaborating with our Network Operations Center (NOC) for escalations and proactive monitoring. The role includes direct support for city staff, including public safety, requiring excellent troubleshooting skills, discretion, and familiarity with secure systems.

⏳ Note: This position is contingent on Mellott & Associates being awarded the City of Bloomfield Hills IT contract. Interviews and pre-screening may occur prior to award.

What You'll Do

• Provide Tier 2 onsite and remote support for workstations, servers, networking, and city-specific systems

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving Microsoft 365 and Windows-based devices

• Administer and monitor backup systems ( VEEAM , Synology), endpoints, and physical infrastructure

• Work within ITIL-aligned workflows to resolve tickets, escalate issues, and ensure SLA compliance

• Act as a technical liaison between city staff and vendors (e.g., Motorola, CLEMIS, ISPs)

• Support patching, provisioning, and upgrades across desktops and laptops

• Participate in audits, risk assessments, and compliance activities ( CJIS , HIPAA , PCI-DSS )

• Flex remote work: Work from home when onsite presence is not required

Minimum Qualifications

• Located within 100 miles of Bloomfield Hills, MI

• 3+ years of IT support experience , preferably in an MSP or municipal/public safety setting

• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 , networking , and Windows systems administration

• Hands-on experience with backup systems , firewalls , and endpoint security

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Able to pass a basic background check (CJIS clearance may be required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as CompTIA A+ , Network+ , Security+ , Microsoft , or Cisco

• Experience with tools such as Kaseya , Synology , VEEAM , or equivalent RMM/backup platforms

• Familiarity with CJIS-compliant environments

• Prior experience supporting emergency services, municipal offices, or healthcare clients

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $22–$30/hour (based on experience and certifications)
