Job Summary: The IT Specialist is a blend of technical, server and network support, requiring the ability to troubleshoot end-user, server and network issues. This position will be responsible for setting up and maintaining servers, workstations and the network. Additional duties include monitoring for and troubleshooting potential issues with the environment and system patching. The IT Specialist will oversee and participate in all operational activities, including network system administration, capacity planning, network performance, data and network security as well as backup and restores. This position requires strong communication and technical skills, as well as the ability to be adaptable and troubleshoot problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Education and Experience (required): Bachelors degree in Degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems U.S. Citizen allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance. Minimum four years experience encompassing the following areas: LAN, WAN and Telecom Experience with capacity planning and performance monitoring techniques and tools Ability to solve complicated problems and deal with a variety of variable situations. Operating System Experience: Windows Server, Windows Desktop 10 and 11, Ubuntu, Debian Experience in the following solutions: Fog (imaging), Proxmox (Virtualization), Intune, Ceeph.io (storage), Ubiquiti Unifi, Jira, Confluence, FlexLM, Magic Draw, Bitbucket, Mac Radius, Sonar, Jenkins, Zabbix (network monitoring), Wazuh, RocketChat, OSticket, Gitlab, Endpoint Protector, Threatmod (cybersecurity monitoring)
Education and Experience (preferred): 6 years of IT experience Experience in designing, planning, and installing network and server hardware.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (required): Knowledge of network diagramming software. (Microsoft Visio preferred) Ability to create scripts (VBScript, PowerShell, Perl, PHP and/or Python) Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN and WAN to troubleshoot and address server issues. Knowledgeable on firewalls, proxy and databases to keep the network and user information secure. Must be able to act as a technical resource and participate for system/network projects and knowledge of back up. Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors and team members. Ability to multi-task effectively and efficiently
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (Preferred): Knowledge on how to maintain security on all workstations, servers, switches, firewalls, and other related devices. Knowledge on how to maintain full system and procedure documentation.
