Alternate Concepts, Inc. (ACI) and Herzog Transit Services, Inc. (HTSI), collectively the ACI/Herzog Joint Venture, along with our key subcontractors are seeking applicants for the Hudson Bergen Light Rail operation located in Hudson County, New Jersey. ACI was founded in 1989 with their corporate office located in Boston, MA and Herzog founded in 1969 with corporate offices located in St. Joseph, MO and Fort Worth, TX.Combined our companies provide FRA/FTA compliant transportation, equipment maintenance, dispatching, right-of-way maintenance, facility maintenance and dispatching services for 20 distinct client properties. In addition to the Joint Venture being the upcoming operator/maintainer of the Hudson Bergen Light Rail, we currently jointly operate the Tren Urbano heavy rail service in San Juan, Puerto Rico and the CTDOT's Hartford intercity service in Connecticut.
ACI/Herzog Joint Venture, along with our key subcontractors are currently seeking anIT Specialist to join our team.
The pay range for this position is $85,000 - $100,000 annually.
The Information Technology Specialist supports the system administrator in maintaining the company's IT infrastructure, providing essential support to users, and ensuring efficient IT operations. This support includes assisting with hardware and software systems through planning, installation, and ongoing maintenance. A key aspect of the role is addressing user needs and delivering solutions to enhance company operations. Responsibilities also extend to managing network systems, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the security of all IT systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- As needed, plans for, supports, and orders all company devices including desktops, laptops, servers, printers, access points, train cellular routers, cell phones, tablets, office phones.
- Serves as the primary support for company users including software and hardware issues to include troubleshoot for any potential malfunctions or faults.
- Supports the Company and ITS team with hardware implementation and ongoing maintenance of company's technology system.
- Plans, selects, installs, configures, and supports all software systems used by the Company in accordance with needs and the outcomes of collective input from senior management.
- Supports and configures wireless networking throughout the PLTO facility and where applicable in other company locations and on company vehicles.
- Supports all technology assets including maintaining an information technology plan comprehensive of equipment replacement schedules.
- Maintains inventory of all assets.
- Manage PLTO access Control system. Regularly inspects system for errors and unauthorized over-rides, addressing security gaps and shortfalls in a timely manner.
- Maintains an acceptable driving record and complies with all state and local traffic regulations.
- Attend official meetings as requested – both internal and external – related to service and operational issues throughout PLTO service area and surrounding jurisdictions, as required.
- Complies with the requirements (policies and procedures) as outlined in company documents, provides input for updates to these and ensures the enforcement of the Information Technology Policies at PLTO and ensuring that we follow any updates provided to the policy.
- Cooperatively and efficiently performs related tasks and duties as required.

- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications:

- Subject matter expert in Microsoft Office products Advanced skills with Microsoft Office software including but not limited to: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, Visio.
- Ability to troubleshoot computer systems and office equipment (phones, printers, copiers, faxes, etc.).
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
- Experience in Transit a plus
- Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Software and Products
- Extended work experience may be substituted for educational credentials if appropriate.
Language Skills:
- Ability to speak, read and write English in a work setting.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write regulatory and departmental reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts including but not limited to proficiency in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing all units of measure.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to compute ratio, rates, percentages and able to draw and interpret graphs and tabular data sets.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Any IT certification is a Plus.
