Job Description :

The IT Solutions Architect is a technology partner for the NESL IT department. The IT Solutions Architect works as an internal consultant to evaluate business requirements and come up with solutions in the form of products or services. The IT Solutions Architect oversees defining the solution as well as actively leading the technical vision to success. The IT Solutions Architect will lead the development and maintenance of external database systems, create sophisticated integrations, and provide technical leadership to ensure alignment with business objectives. This role will also promote knowledge sharing and best practices in database management and system integration within the IT department. The IT Solutions Architect will support a broad set of application areas such as: Dispatch & Logistics, Trucking & Telematics, Safety, Construction, and Finance. Additionally, the IT Solutions Architect will be responsible for the implementation and management of best practices for source control, code promotion, and version management of custom software. Location and Schedule: This position is assigned to the NESL Corporate Office located in New Enterprise, PA. The IT Solutions Architect is a collaborative, customer-facing contributor who will spend 2-3 days per week in the office with other team members. Travel to plants, work sites, or other area offices to learn and understand business objectives and processes, or provide training and system go-live support will be required from time to time. Travel may involve over-night stays - including multiple days. IT Solutions Architect - What will you do?

  • Solution Design and Delivery
    • Identify risks, propose mitigation strategies, and provide technical guidance for proposed solutions.
    • Work as part of a cross-functional team including Project Managers, Analysts, Business Users, other IT Staff, and Third-Party Vendors to deliver technology projects.
    • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including architecture diagrams, data models, configuration guides, and troubleshooting resources.
    • Design, build, and implement data integrations between business applications.
    • Evaluate business and technical requirements to architect comprehensive database and reporting solutions.
  • Database Design and Management
    • Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance external database systems to support business applications.
    • Implement data models, schemas, and integrations to ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and processing.
    • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
    • Ensure compliance with data security policies and best practices, including access controls and encryption.
    • Develop and maintain data integrations between external databases and reporting tools to enable real-time and accurate insights.
  • DevOps Support
    • Manage and optimize AWS PaaS infrastructure (e.g., EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, etc.).
    • Automate build, test, and deployment processes to improve development efficiency and system reliability.
    • Implement and manage source code repositories (e.g., Git, Bitbucket) and branching strategies.
    • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.
    • Maintain Linux-based systems and scripts for automation, monitoring, and deployments.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Professional Development
    • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and security best practices through training, conferences, and networking.
    • Promote best practices in database management and application integrations through knowledge sharing and training within the IT department.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned and required.
Requirements - Who Are We Looking For?
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field. Four (4) or more years of equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Five (5) or more years of any combination of application development, DevOps engineering, and database/ application/ infrastructure administration including at least 2 years in a Linux environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working as a member of a cross functional project team.
  • Experience with system modeling, data modeling, report writing tools, and SQL.
  • Strong documentation skills including architecture diagrams, system maps, configuration guides, troubleshooting guides, and FAQs.
  • Proficient with AWS PaaS services including EC2, RDS, Lambda, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, or similar cloud platforms.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles including source control, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and release automation.
  • Hands-on experience with version control platforms (Git/Bitbucket) and scripting/programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Groovy, or Bash.
  • Experience working with Oracle or SQL Server databases.
  • Familiarity with modern software development lifecycles and Agile project methodologies. Commercial software development experience is a plus.
  • Experience with containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code frameworks (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to adjust communication style when speaking to non-technical / non-IT coworkers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of professional reliability and accountability.
