POSITION: Network Administrator DEPARTMENT: District Administration CONTRACT TERM: Exempt REPORTS TO: (As assigned per Org. Chart) CATEGORY: Salaried CLASSIFICATION: Exempt JOB SUMMARY: A Network Administrator position who is enthusiastic, technically skilled, and looking for the opportunity to support students and staff. The Network Administrator is responsible for all high-end issues related to the operation of the Hopi Local Area Network. This position leads, manages and directs the activities of the Technology Department, including the development and operation of the school's strategic information, education, telecommunications networks; instructional technology programs, telephone and data services, computing services; applications development and support, network infrastructure design and operations; related staff development and teacher training; consultation on software/hardware acquisition; and instructional delivery systems. This position requires broad technical expertise in designing, managing, and integrating information systems and technology programs and services for the school, as well as the integration of technology into the learning curriculum and instructional program. The position requires analyzing and making recommendations to schools and the board regarding their technological needs, designed to improve learning. The Network Administrator organizes and conducts frequent meetings and training programs to communicate technical information, data and a variety of alternative solutions. - Responsible for day-to-day performance of Local Area Network. This includes but is not limited to:
- Verification that all servers are operational
- Creation of user accounts
- Backing up the HJSHS Servers, Web, Mail and Library servers.

- Provides leadership and coordinates the implementation of the school's integrated master plan for
- Develops, implements and monitors work plans to achieve the department's mission, goals and performance objectives; directs the development of and monitors the performance of direct reports.
- Manages the department's budget; manages and directs the development, implementation and evaluation of work programs; plans, processes systems and procedures to achieve school goals, objectives and performance measures, consistent with the school's quality and service expectations.
- Evaluates, plans and designs information and network systems as required by the school, ensuring that they meet industry standards and are adequately flexible, scalable and maintainable to protect the school's technology investments.
- Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates the performance of assigned staff; establishes performance requirements and personal development targets; regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for improvement and development; takes disciplinary action, up to and including termination, to address performance deficiencies, in accordance with school's Human Resources policies and labor contract
- Manages and directs the delivery and maintenance of telecommunication services, including establishing and managing outside vendor contracts; designs and oversees District applications for various grant and discount programs offered by State and Federal agencies and corporate partners.
- Provides leadership and works with staff to develop and retain highly competent, service-oriented staff through selection, compensation, training and day-to-day management practices that support the school's mission, objectives and service expectations; provides leadership and participates in programs and activities that promote a positive employee relations environment.
- Manages and directs the implementation of goals, objectives, policies and standards for the Technology department; provides professional assistance to Principal on technology, information systems, computer operations and support and related matters; provides broad computer processing and technology support services and works with other school's technology teams to solve a range of complex computer technology based problems.
- Works with managers to evaluate current and anticipated information systems and technology requirements and examines the feasibility of alternative conceptual approaches to meeting such requirements; works with other directors and managers to prioritize development and upgrade projects; recommends approaches and action plans that will produce maximum return on District technology investments; promotes the use of sound technology.
- Directly supervises the Technology Assistant and Technology Service Specialist.
- Researches new versions of software.
- Trouble shoots when issues arise.
- Maintains appropriate vendor relations. Vendors include but are not limited to:
- National Computer Systems - NASIS program
- Canvas, Edmentum, other education technology programs.
- GoGuardian
- Educational Networks-School Website
- Develops the school's technology plan. Assists the school's administration in making decisions on how to use technology to increase productivity and learning.
- Oversees the maintenance of the in-house phone system.
- Oversees the maintenance and updates to the school's web site.
- Any other duties as assigned.

Ability to exercise sound, expert independent judgment within general policy guidelines Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential issues and situations. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, requiring the ability to interact professionally and courteously with students, faculty, staff and the public. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and five years' experience as a Network Administrator, five years' experience maintaining both Macintosh and Windows machines, five years' experience working with SASI School information systems, five years' experience working with DNS and other network servers, Extensive knowledge of current and updated educational software PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Hopi Preference in employment considered. An advanced degree or certification in a related field is preferred ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE Additional training after hire to learn new skills to keep current with changes in technology. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month (12 months). Salary and work year established by the Governing Board.
