Job Description

The role involves researching, analyzing, and internalizing the current ('As Is') and future ('To Be') states of the infrastructure environment, including hardware, software, network, and communication systems. The candidate will work closely with project managers and stakeholders to identify legacy systems, new technology tools, and frameworks. This is not an operational role. Responsibilities include gathering data for the development, maintenance, and deployment of infrastructure services.

The candidate must understand and articulate infrastructure requirements, including hardware, LAN and WAN services, telephony, electrical supply (UPS, generators), cooling, fire suppression systems, and ensuring the availability of infrastructure services. They will be responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, monitoring, and maintaining infrastructure software platforms such as server/client operating systems, messaging and database services, reporting platforms, Citrix, VPN, Web Services, web proxies, and communication protocols including CICS, SNA, TCP/IP.

Additional duties include developing operational, installation, configuration, and upgrade documentation for communication systems, hardware, network, security, storage, and software. The role also involves liaising with technical staff, management, users, and vendors regarding service requests, standards, and security. The candidate should be capable of providing on-site or remote diagnosis and resolution of hardware and software issues.

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Professional certification in communication, infrastructure, architecture, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in a data center/infrastructure environment involving protocols and interfaces
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Self-driven with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to contribute to outcome-driven, results-based projects

Desirable Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Research skills in technology trends and legacy system maintenance
  • Experience in modernization efforts
  • Experience developing strategic infrastructure roadmaps
  • Experience with proposal lifecycle management related to infrastructure
  • Previous experience working with government and procurement activities
