In this role, you'll lead and contribute to projects that improve how we serve the public, working closely with internal teams to design smart solutions, troubleshoot issues, and keep our technology running efficiently. Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience in information technology; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in information technology; OR An associate's degree in information technology plus four years of experience in information technology; OR A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in information technology; OR A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus three years of experience in information technology; OR A master's degree plus three years of experience in information technology. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. NOTE: A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: As an IT Applications Specialist, you'll contribute to key projects and ongoing technical operations by:
  • Leading and Guiding Project Work: Manage IT projects from start to finish, ensuring the team stays aligned and tasks are completed on time. Offer technical guidance and support to team members.
  • Planning and Delivering Solutions: Use your knowledge of IT systems to recommend improvements, develop project timelines, and plan resource needs.
  • Designing and Building Systems: Assist in creating new software tools and applications. Work with databases and systems to ensure integration and reliability.
  • Collaborating Across Teams: Communicate with colleagues and managers to share updates, run meetings, and ensure project documentation is complete and clear.
  • Maintaining System Stability: Ensure that updates or system changes don't disrupt operations. Troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Training and Supporting Staff: Share expertise with team members. Develop guides and tutorials to support users and improve system usage.
  • Using Data to Inform Decisions: Analyze data and user feedback to guide project decisions. Assist in evaluating information for contracts and technical initiatives.
  • Exploring New Technologies: Stay current with emerging tools and trends. Recommend new technologies that improve efficiency and service delivery.
