Calaveras, County of (CA) is offering a position with a salary range of $66,476.80 - $90,084.80 Annually. The job is located in San Andreas, CA and is a Full Time Regular - Benefited position. The job number is 2025-00050 and is within the Administrative Office Division of Admin - Information Technology.

This particular position covers a wide range of duties and responsibilities, primarily seeking individuals with experience in server management, virtualization, network storage, databases, and security best practices. Familiarity with HHS systems is a plus.

Under supervision, provides technical expertise, support, management, and administration of networks, servers, databases, PCs, and applications in a Microsoft/Cisco network environment. Provides support for users, and addresses questions and issues encountered with systems and computer related equipment. Performs related work as required.

IT Analyst I: This is the entry-level position for the IT Analyst series. The position works under direct supervision and requires a foundation in technical computer skills and systems. The position requires strong oral and written communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships at all organizational levels; ability to quickly adapt, learn and apply new skills; ability to provide IT-related customer and computer support.

IT Analyst II: This is a journey-level technical position requiring knowledge of, and prior job experience with Microsoft and/or Cisco enterprise production environments. The incumbent works under general supervision and provides support of networks, servers, and databases, along with related equipment and software. The IT Analyst II additionally provides technical support of department and enterprise applications.

IT Analyst III: This is an advanced journey-level position requiring a high level of knowledge and experience of Microsoft and/or Cisco production environments. The IT Analyst III candidate will have demonstrated abilities to work with limited supervision and will have completed projects of varying size and complexity working as the project lead.

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

IT Analyst I:

  • Provides technical assistance to County departments and staff.
  • Researches software, hardware, and process solutions.
  • Provides quotes and handle purchasing for end-user computer equipment.
  • Maintains an inventory of software and hardware.
  • Monitors ticketing system from receipt of request through ticket life cycle.
  • Provides computer support and perform hands-on fixes for computers and systems.
  • Adds new users to servers and software applications.
  • Installs and configures software.
  • Maintains inventory of company-owned mobile devices.
  • Provides security support for systems and networks.
  • Assists with technology projects performed by IT Analysts II and III.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

IT Analyst II:

  • Performs basic support functions for Network and Server equipment.
  • Develops internal reporting and management tools for use within IT.
  • Performs basic SQL functions.
  • Monitors networks and devices.
  • Administers core tools for anti-virus and anti-malware.
  • Provides support for copper and fiber infrastructure.
  • Provides support with Microsoft Exchange.
  • Provides support with Active Directory.
  • Provides support for County telephone system.
  • Assists with IT-related radio and microwave systems.
  • Determines application requirements for on premise or cloud solutions.
  • Provides technical application support for on premise or cloud systems.
  • Assists with technology projects performed by IT Analysts III.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

IT Analyst III:

The Analyst III will aid the Information Technology Manager with development of plans and budgets in support of short- and long-term needs. In addition to the duties of an IT Analyst I/II, Analysts at this level are expected to perform comprehensive work in one or more of the following concentrations:

  • Network Administration Track
  • Server and Enterprise Systems Administration Track
  • Database Administration Track
  • Department Analyst Track
  • Web and Software Development Track

The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.

Knowledge of: Any combination of the following: Computer hardware repair, installation and maintenance; Help Desk ticketing systems; E-mail systems and spam filters; Antivirus/antimalware systems, Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange Servers; Virtual Server designs; Cisco Call Manager and IP phone technology; Structured cabling concepts; IT infrastructure Best Practices; Network monitoring software; Enterprise network concepts and equipment; Database administration.

Skill and Ability to: Work under general supervision; manage time to meet assigned needs; work effectively with other members of team and other departments; multi-task; review and analyze technology needs; communicate effectively. Complete tasks and assignments with deadlines; acquire and maintain a good working knowledge of personal computers, servers, PC operating systems, generally used software programs, printers, and network hardware.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • IT Analyst I: A High School diploma, plus two years of full time, paid experience performing duties equivalent to IT Support Technician II, supporting computer users or supporting IT infrastructure in a networked environment, is required.
  • IT Analyst II: Graduation from an accredited two-year college with an AA or AS Degree in Information Technology or a closely-related field, plus at least one year of full time, paid experience performing duties equivalent to an IT Analyst I, or Obtaining industry recognized certifications (Cisco CCNA or Microsoft MCSA, for example) plus at least one year of full time, paid experience performing duties equivalent to an IT Analyst I, or At least three years of full time, paid experience supporting computer users in a networked environment and other duties equivalent to an IT Analyst I.
  • IT Analyst III: Graduation from an accredited two-year college with an AA or AS Degree in Information Technology or a closely-related field, plus at least two years of full time, paid experience performing duties equivalent to an IT Analyst II, or Obtaining industry recognized certifications (Cisco CCNA or Microsoft MCSA, for example) plus at least two years of full time, paid experience performing duties equivalent to an IT Analyst II, or At least four years of full time, paid experience supporting computer users in a networked environment and other duties equivalent to an IT Analyst II.

Professional Certifications: Certifications from Microsoft or Cisco that attest to technical skills are highly desirable.

May need to submit to an extensive background investigation. If required, must maintain security clearance according to Criminal Justice Information Systems staffing security requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in field environments, sometimes under adverse weather conditions including extreme heat or cold, and wetness. Adverse working conditions may include above average noise, traffic, and machinery hazards, working in heights, exposure to machine vibration, and standing for long periods of time.
