The iSeries/AS400 Developer will be responsible for developing and supporting applications in the Retail Domain for one of the leading wholesale retailers in the US. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with domain experts and the IT leadership team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and experience with iSeries programming, database management, and application development.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and develop iSeries code supporting various retail applicationsCreate functional specifications using standard practices and proceduresConduct code reviews, unit testing, and coordinate with development team members for QA tasksAdhere to the client's IS division development standards and deployment processesCollaborate with the Product Owner, business team, and QA to define, understand, and document requirementsParticipate in development estimation, deployment, and release planningProvide 2nd level support for daily incident tickets, create KB articles for 1st level support, and provide on-call supportPerform peer reviews on source code for reuse, scalability, and best practicesEngage in collaborative technical discussions focusing on software design, architecture, and user experienceRequired Qualifications
Excellent programming skills on the iSeries platform, including RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE)Strong knowledge of SQL concepts, including complex queries, embedded SQL in SQLRPGLE, and cursor programmingExperience in creating and analyzing physical files, logical files, SQL tables, indexes, views, and stored proceduresWorking knowledge of screen programming, including Display Files, Subfiles, and Printer filesAbility to document business rules and create data mapping documents based on program and data flowsProficient in ILE programming, including program modules, binding directories, and service programsExperience with Message Queue (MQ), MQ Trigger, and embedding XML tags in RPG programsGood communication skills for owning project tasks and collaborating with analystsPreferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Turnover (code configuration management tool)Experience with X-Analysis (cross-reference tool for iSeries)Familiarity with Triggers and Message Queuing for inter-program/system communicationExperience with ROBOT job scheduler for creating and setting up scheduled jobs on iSeriesUnderstanding of normalized and denormalized tables, and Star Schema databasesWorking knowledge of iSeries Navigator for querying and analyzing SQL performanceExperience in the Retail Domain, particularly in Merchandising, Warehouse Management, and DistributionLocation: Issaquah, Washington
