We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Analyst - specializing in Inventory to join our Accounting Team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of inventory accounting & valuation, cost accounting, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will also possess advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. As an Inventory Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate accounting and financial reporting related to inventory, overseeing the valuation and cost allocation processes, and providing key insights into inventory-related financial performance.
What you'll do: - Develop and maintain detailed reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI/Fabric that provide insights into inventory-related systems and financial performance
- Perform regular analysis of inventory data, including identifying discrepancies, variances, and opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Prepare reports for month-end and year-end financial closing, ensuring that inventory transactions are accurately reflected in the financial statements.
- Assist in periodic inventory audits and physical counts to verify the accuracy of inventory records and identify any discrepancies between book and physical values.
- Reconcile any discrepancies found during inventory audits, working closely with the warehouse and operations teams to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with the team to forecast and budget inventory-related costs, helping to identify cost-saving opportunities within the production or procurement process.
- Provide recommendations for inventory management improvements that will enhance cost control and optimize working capital.
- Work closely with the accounting and operations teams to ensure that inventory-related financial data is accurate and reflects the true inventory levels.
- Assist with reviewing bill of material details to ensure completeness, accuracy and consistency
- Collaborate with the procurement team to monitor inventory purchasing costs, and ensure that inventory purchases are aligned with financial goals and forecasts. (e.g., PPV)
What we're looking for: - Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required
- 3-5 years of experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, or a similar finance role, preferably in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Power BI, including creating complex financial reports, dashboards, and data models.
- Familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting standards related to inventory, such as GAAP or IFRS.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including the ability to analyze and present financial data in a meaningful way.
- Strong Excel skills (advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and financial modeling).
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle)
- Solid understanding of cost accounting and inventory management principles, including FIFO, LIFO, and standard cost methods.
- Experience with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights to management.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts and analysis to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of financial regulations, industry standards, and best practices in inventory accounting.
