Position Overview:

TheCity Physicianprovides comprehensive medical services for current and prospective City of Delano employees. This contracted position involves conducting various medical examinations, administering drug screenings, performing fitness-for-duty evaluations, completing DMV medical certifications, treating job-related injuries, providing COVID-19 testing, and administering vaccines. TheCity Physicianalso serves as a medical/legal witness and resource for City management.

Qualifications:

• Education:Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Certification:Must be board certified
• Licensure:Valid medical license to practice in the state of California.
• Experience:Must have experience in relevant field.
• Technical Skills:Proficiency in conducting medical examinations and interpreting results.
• Soft Skills:Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct pre-employment physical examinations for various employee groups.
• Perform functional capacity evaluations/assessments (including ADA assessments).
• Complete Department of Motor Vehicle physicals and medical certifications
• Conduct fitness-for-duty evaluations and disability retirement evaluations.
• Administer and interpret drug screening tests (including DOT-regulated tests).
• Treat job-related injuries and provide COVID-19 testing and vaccines.
• Serve as a medical/legal witness and resource for City management.
