Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Senior Space Planner to support university-wide space planning initiatives.
- Assists in the research, evaluation, and development of space planning documents and reports, including but not limited to space programs, adjacency diagrams, space efficiency analyses, space utilization reports, blocking plans, fit-tests, post-project space program validations, and specialized mapping requests. Ensure all deliverables are accurate, clearly organized, and presented in a professional, high-quality format.
- Serves as a key coordinator for planning, scheduling, managing, and documenting all move activities related to new construction and renovation projects across campus, including off-site locations.
- Prepares and maintains documentation related to space assignments, ensuring timely communication of changes to the Data Documentation Coordinator.
- Responsible for preparing move estimates, tracking purchase orders, maintaining move documentation, and compiling move statistics.
- Contributes to the development and maintenance of university space planning guidelines, space type definitions, and floor plans.
- Assists the AutoCAD Technician and Space Data Coordinator by conducting on-site verifications and supporting updates to floor plans.
- Completes other duties as assigned by the University Director of Space Planning.
General Responsibilities
- Plans and designs basic interior spaces including design conception, plan drawing, establishing specifications, analyzing available space, determining office equipment and layout, and assessing traffic flow.
- Performs all of the above within budget limits, adhering to pertinent regulations and building codes.
- Develops and presents proposals, plans and specifications, cost estimates, and budget recommendations.
- Oversees project implementation, including engaging Engineering, Trades, and Facility Operations staff and/or independent contractors as needed, and orders necessary equipment and supplies.
- Reviews and monitors projects in progress to ensure budget control, timely completion, and the compliance of contractors with established standards; assists contractors and craftspeople in resolving problems during installation; and develops and proposes solutions and prepares revised design alterations of modifications as appropriate.
- Maintains contracts with vendors, manufacturing representatives, contractors, and craftspeople to evaluate projects and ensure awareness of trends in the design field.
- Maintains design library and resource files.
- May provide guidance to Interior Design Assistants.

- Bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE Required
- Some interior design, architecture, or related field
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Preferred
- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) Upon Date of Hire
- Pass National Council for Interior Design (NCIDQ) Qualification Upon Date of Hire

Working Conditions / Demands This role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The role requires the ability to detect items in close proximity as well as far away; discern between colors; detect objects in peripheral space of self; discern items in detail; and to have good depth perception. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
