REQUIREMENTSQualified candidates will have strong academic credentials and complex litigation experience in intellectual property and technology cases. A bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, or other engineering or the sciences is preferred. Strong research and writing skills are required, along with a demonstrated desire to be a trial lawyer.
Successful candidates will also have strong creative problem solving, interpersonal, organization, planning and communication skills. The ability and willingness to report regularly and effectively with senior attorneys on the team is required. In addition, associates in the IP&T department must enjoy technology and have the ability to understand complex scientific and engineering concepts along with the ability to manage cases, assignments and team members efficiently and effectively, with a collegial and entrepreneurial approach. The ability to work independently and as a member of a team, shift focus, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain professionalism under pressure is required. Individuals who are results-oriented and self-starters with a high level of initiative and work ethic will find themselves at home.
Applicants must be admitted, or eligible to become admitted to practice in New York. Admission before the United States Patent & Trademark Office is helpful, but not required.
