Instrumentation Engineer, PLC Programming

Location: Houston, TX

We are seeking a PLC Programmer with experience in Siemens PLC to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in programming and troubleshooting PLC systems, with a focus on enhancing automation processes within our manufacturing environment. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work collaboratively with engineers and technicians to ensure optimal performance of our machinery and systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop custom PLC programs from scratch, primarily using Siemens S7 systems to meet specific project requirements.
  • Design and program Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications, ensuring intuitive and efficient operator interfaces.
  • Collaborate on electrical design processes, creating electrical schematics and layouts for custom automation projects.
  • Work closely with clients to understand project requirements and develop tailored automation solutions, integrating custom hardware and software components.
  • Integrate third party sensors with the PLC system, program and test functionality and accuracy of new sensors.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLC operations and performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate Vision inspection systems into production lines.
  • Utilize tools such as an Ohmmeter for testing electrical components.
  • Document all programming changes, system updates, and maintenance activities.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, Control Systems Technology, or Process Control is required.
  • Proficiency in programming languages related to PLCs is required.
  • Experience in Siemens S7 series PLC is a plus.
  • Experience with SIMATIC STEP 7 and TIA Portal.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and RTUs, their engineering and development.
  • Strong programming background and computer algorithm knowledge is required.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and instrumentation (E & I) principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members across departments.
