Salary: $42,396.00 - $46,551.00 Annually Location : Ottumwa Main Campus, IA Job Type: Faculty Job Number: 202400088 Department: Arts & Sciences Opening Date: 07/31/2025 FLSA: Exempt DescriptionJob Summary:The instructor will teach a variety of math courses which may include Math for Liberal Arts, College Algebra, and Technical Math. Some courses in Statistics, Finite Math, and Math for Elementary Teachers could also be assigned to this instructor. Courses may include a variety of delivery methods including on campus, off campus, LVL and online and may be assigned to originate from the Ottumwa or the Centerville campus based on the needs of the institution.   • Master's degree in Mathematics or Statistics required.
  • Master's degree in Math Education; Economics; Econometrics; Engineering; Physics with a minimum of 12 graduate credit hours in Mathematics or Statistics will be considered
  • College level teaching experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of competency within the discipline to be taught.
  • Must relate well to students and colleagues.
Work Performed
  • Teach courses in accordance with objectives of the course outline as set forth by the division using a variety of instructional methods and technologies that facilitates learning for all students.
  • Organize and present various concepts to a wide range of students with varying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain current course syllabi/outlines for assigned courses.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with professional personnel, local organizations, public officials and other interested people.
  • Assist in maintaining public relations with the local community and take part in community relations when possible.
  • Actively participate in program promotion and recruitment of students, provide academic advising as needed, and assist in the placement and follow up of graduates.
  • Represent the college in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community.
  • Meet all assigned classes and office commitments as scheduled.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled meetings, work sessions and training as directed.
  • Emphasize the importance of prompt and regular class attendance by students.
  • Measure and evaluate student progress and maintain accurate grade computations.
  • Prepare and submit accurate grade reports.
  • Submit reports on all students who may be in need of counsel.
  • Serve actively on any committee to which appointed.
  • Keep accurate inventories of equipment and supplies and submit requisitions for needed materials.
  • Promptly report repairs needed for classrooms and equipment.
  • Stay up to date with trends in the field and update program curriculum and equipment as appropriate.
  • Assist in program review procedure.
  • Assist in developing course level and program level assessment tools. Collect and enter assessment data into the college SPOL system software.
  • Meet the standards of the college's Quality Faculty Plan.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
