Job Description - Instructional Support Technician /Machinist (2502802)
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). In lieu of a bachelor's degree, four (4) years of full-time related technical experience or a combination of experience and an apprenticeship program or technical/trade school totaling four (4) full-time years may be considered. Two (2) years of full-time related technical experience.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with conventional milling and lathe work, 3 Axis CNC machining, welding and/or prototype machining. Experience or training utilizing computer design (i.e. CAD/CAM) for manufacturing. Experience with designing and fabricating sheet metal components and assemblies. Experience with interpreting and creating computer models and technical drawings used in the manufacture of complex parts.Brief Description of Duties:The Instructional Support Technician - Machinist reports to the Director of Physical Laboratories. This position aids in the operation of the Physics Department and campus wide research and instructional laboratories. Incumbent will support experimental physics design and fabrication projects, assist students with fabrication tasks, assist and advise faculty in instructional/research lab safety, maintain and upgrade equipment, and other duties as assigned.
The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving and a strong ability to adapt to and creatively solve problems.
Special Notes:This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
