Job DescriptionSpecial Education Instructional Assistants support students with disabilities by assisting certified special education teachers in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role involves providing instructional support, behavior management, and personal care services to ensure academic and social success in inclusive and specialized settings.
Special Education Instructional Assistants report to and are supported by the District Special Education Manager, who provides leadership in all areas of special education programming. In collaboration with the School Principal, the Manager also supports the consistent implementation of attendance and behavioral procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Education: Associate's degree; at least two years (60 hours) of higher education; or have passed the ParaPro Assessment required.
Licenses: Certified Teaching Assistant (CTA) preferred.
Experience: Prior experience working with young children in a special educational setting preferred.
Instructional Assistant salaries will be based on individual experience and within the SY 2025-26 Salary Schedule.
