Job Overview: Search Solution Group is seeking a Data Engineer on behalf of our client, an investment advisory firm providing a wide range of services. This role is vital to the organization's data strategy, responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the implementation of modern data assets. The Data Engineer will manage the full lifecycle of data processes, including ingestion, transformation, reporting, and troubleshooting, using a combination of cloud-based and traditional data platform technologies. This position is key to ensuring reliable, high-quality data that supports business operations, analytics, and strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable code for all stages of the ELT process.
  • Design and implement data models, pipelines, and workflows using Snowflake and Azure-based services.
  • Create and maintain reporting and visualization assets using Power BI or custom front-end solutions.
  • Monitor and resolve production support issues to ensure data quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, business partners, and external vendors to deliver effective data solutions.
  • Follow and enforce change management policies and procedures.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing processes, and production release cycles.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, or features to improve system architecture and performance.
Requirements include: Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent education, training, and work experience.
Experience:
  • 5-7+ years of experience in data engineering, software development, or technical leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in data warehouse design, implementation, and performance optimization.
  • Experience in investment management or financial services preferred.
Skills:
  • Expertise in SQL, Python, Linux scripting, GitHub, and CI/CD automation (e.g., GitHub Actions).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Certifications:
  • Relevant data engineering, cloud, or analytics certifications are a plus.
Knowledge:
  • Deep understanding of data warehouse modeling and implementation.
  • Familiarity with Azure services such as Key Vault, Container Services, Data Factory, and Synapse.
  • Exposure to Snowflake ML/AI, R programming, and traditional tools such as SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS.
  • Understanding of fixed income and equity investing, portfolio management, trading, performance, and risk data preferred.
