This role will be based in Muscatine, Iowa.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Leadership
- Work with Senior Commodity Manager to develop trading and risk management strategies.
- Encourage growth, coaching, and personnel development of team members.
- Lead the development of departmental goals and project teams.
- Build effective internal and external customer relationships.
- Collaborate with leadership in various business units to foster teamwork and trust.
Planning
- Develop strategic and operational responsibilities for the group.
- Establish and implement long-term sourcing and supply strategies and financial plans.
- Collaborate with internal feed formulators and plant managers for cost-effective options.
Ingredient Supply Chain Management
- Manage supplier relationships to ensure supply, reduce costs, and improve quality.
- Maintain inventory levels.
- Negotiate costs to meet targets and reduce expenses.
- Cultivate new ingredient sources and approve suppliers.
- Manage supplier performance concerning cost, quality, and performance.
- Handle supplier contracts ensuring legal and business requirements are met.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 15 years of purchasing experience preferred; business, economics, or related discipline desired.
- Strong knowledge of micro feed ingredients, vitamins, and minerals sourcing.
- Analytical, problem-solving skills, and independent decision-making ability.
- Positive attitude, urgency, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with large capital items and project purchasing.
- Ability to align decisions with strategic goals.
- Effective communication skills and stakeholder engagement.
TRAVEL:
- 30% domestic and international travel required.
