If you have purchasing experience and strong knowledge of the marketplace and micro feed ingredients, we want to hear from you!

This role will be based in Muscatine, Iowa.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Leadership

• Work with Senior Commodity Manager to develop trading and risk management strategies.
• Encourage growth, coaching, and personnel development of team members.
• Lead the development of departmental goals and project teams.
• Build effective internal and external customer relationships.
• Collaborate with leadership in various business units to foster teamwork and trust.

Planning

• Develop strategic and operational responsibilities for the group.
• Establish and implement long-term sourcing and supply strategies and financial plans.
• Collaborate with internal feed formulators and plant managers for cost-effective options.

Ingredient Supply Chain Management

• Manage supplier relationships to ensure supply, reduce costs, and improve quality.
• Maintain inventory levels.
• Negotiate costs to meet targets and reduce expenses.
• Cultivate new ingredient sources and approve suppliers.
• Manage supplier performance concerning cost, quality, and performance.
• Handle supplier contracts ensuring legal and business requirements are met.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 15 years of purchasing experience preferred; business, economics, or related discipline desired.
• Strong knowledge of micro feed ingredients, vitamins, and minerals sourcing.
• Analytical, problem-solving skills, and independent decision-making ability.
• Positive attitude, urgency, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with large capital items and project purchasing.
• Ability to align decisions with strategic goals.
• Effective communication skills and stakeholder engagement.

TRAVEL:

• 30% domestic and international travel required.
