We work with our government customers in defense and civilian agencies to identify new technologies. The Opportunity NexTech Solutions LLC (NTS) is seeking a skilled Information Technology (IT) Operations Specialist with Federal Government experience to support IT systems at our Mission Support Center in Tampa, Florida. This mid-level role provides hands-on support for hardware, software, and network services, including Microsoft Windows client and server environments, network devices (switches, routers, firewalls), and cloud-based conferencing and A/V platforms. The specialist will deliver walk-up and ticket-based IT support, assist with device provisioning and software licensing, maintain inventory, uphold cybersecurity and physical security protocols, and collaborate with other departments on room configurations and technology upgrades. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a customer-focused mindset, clear communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This position also offers opportunities for growth into senior technical or leadership roles as experience and skills develop. **Key Responsibilities**

  • Serve as the on-site IT Operations Technician overseeing all hardware, software, and IT services
  • Lead IT staff of 1 additional technician team, partnering on tasks and overseeing performance
  • Provide set up, testing and real-time support of A/V equipment for customer meetings and events
  • Deliver light technical support for walk-up ticket-based IT issues (eg: printer issues, basic PC troubleshooting)
  • Load, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows client and server operating systems
  • Configure and manage network devices including switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Assist with device provisioning and enforce password and access control policies
  • Maintain physical and digital security protocols
  • Uphold cybersecurity and information assurance standards across all systems
  • Communicate technical information clearly to customers and stakeholders
  • Assess system performance, identify inefficiencies, and recommend technological improvements
  • Manage software licenses and ensure compliance with licensing agreements
  • Assist with vendor contracts for platforms, telecom, and enterprise tools
  • Control IT-related budgets and costs to align with organizational financial goals
  • Track and maintain inventory of commonly used IT equipment such as A/V gear, cables, and spare parts
  • Collaborate with other departments for room configurations and upgrades
  • Adapt to evolving duties as needed; remain flexible in response to organizational changes
**Requirements**
  • Active Secret Clearance desired, eligibility for DoD Secret Clearance required.
Education
  • BS in Computer Science (or a related field) preferred; a combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.
Required Skills, Experience And Abilities
  • 2+ years experience as an on-site IT field operations managing hardware, software and networks
  • Experience in leading or mentoring IT staff
  • Skilled in A/V setup, testing, and event support
  • Proficient in troubleshooting PCs, printers, and peripherals
  • Strong knowledge of Windows client/server systems and network devices
  • Familiar with device provisioning, access control, and cybersecurity standards
  • Able to communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders
  • Experienced in software license management, IT inventory, and vendor contracts
  • Collaborative, flexible, and adaptable to changing organizational needs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional experience as an IT Network dministrator
  • DoD experience
  • Certifications in one or more: CCNA /CCDA /CCNP /CCIE /CISSP /CCSP /Cloud / Network+ /Linux+ /Sec+
  • Certification or compatible DoD 8570 compliance with IASAE Level 2
**Physical Requirements and Work Environment**
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work in environments without climate control when necessary
