The City of Davenport is seeking a dynamic and experienced Information Technology (IT) Director to provide innovative and customer-focused solutions to municipal operations. As a key member of the city's leadership team, the IT Director will oversee all aspects of information technology, including enterprise systems, cybersecurity, network operations, data management, and innovation initiatives. We are looking for a visionary leader with strong technical expertise, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to public service.

Salary starts at $140,000 DOQ. The City offers a robust and competitive benefits package with unique and innovative offerings.

Under administrative direction, the IT Director is responsible for leading the strategic and operational direction of the City's Information Technology Department. This includes overseeing the planning, implementation, and management of technology infrastructure, systems, and services to support municipal operations. The role ensures the secure, efficient, and compliant functioning of IT resources, manages departmental staff, technology projects, vendor relationships, and collaborates with stakeholders to align IT initiatives with the City's goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of the IT Department to ensure system and service reliability.
  • Developing and implementing IT policies, procedures, and standards for efficiency, security, and compliance.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of IT professionals.
  • Managing IT infrastructure including networks, servers, and software applications.
  • Planning and executing technology projects within budget and timelines.
  • Collaborating with City departments to assess needs, prioritize projects, and allocate resources.
  • Analyzing business needs and recommending technical solutions.
  • Supporting special projects and developing IT business cases.
  • Coordinating with external IT resources and ensuring effective project execution.
  • Managing vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Developing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Ensuring compliance with security practices and regulations.
  • Preparing and managing the IT Department's budget.
  • Qualifications include:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
    • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible IT experience, including five (5) years in management.
    • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check.
    • Residency in Davenport within a specified timeframe.

    Required knowledge and skills encompass IT systems, cybersecurity, hardware/software, project management, personnel management, strategic planning, and effective communication.
