This position provides visionaryleadership, strategic planning, and operational oversight for infrastructure, cybersecurity,information systems, digital learning tools, and instructional technology integration. The Directorensures that all technology systems support and enhance the SAU's instructional goals, operationalefficiency, and long-term strategic plan. This role includes direct supervision of department staff,management of multi-district technology initiatives, and responsibility for ensuring compliance withstate and federal regulations regarding technology and data privacy.QualificationsBachelor or Master's degree in Technology, Networking (or IT related field), or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.Proven experience in IT Leadership, preferably in an educational or public sector environment.Strong knowledge of network systems, cybersecurity, cloud services, and educational technologies.Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws relating to data privacy and security.Strong knowledge of data interoperability standards and how to use them.Excellent project communication, project management, and team leadership skills.Demonstrated ability to manage change and drive innovation in complex environmentsStrategic Leadership & PlanningLead the development and execution of a comprehensive, multi-year District Technology Plan aligned to SAU-wide goals.Advise the Superintendent, central office, school leaders and school boards on emerging technologies, cybersecurity threats, and digital equity.Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of all instructional and administrative technology systems.Collaborate with curriculum leaders and principals to ensure technology integration enhances teaching, learning, and student engagement.Infrastructure & Operations ManagementOversee the design, installation, and management of district-wide and local area networks, including wired, wireless, and cloud-based systems.Direct and monitor all technology infrastructure, including servers, firewalls, backup systems, and end-user devices.Establish and enforce operational protocols to ensure network reliability, data security, and disaster recovery.Manage all technology vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and service-level agreements to maximize value and performance.Oversee and collaborates with other departments to support technology systems including security cameras, card access, point of sales, and bus routing systems.Cybersecurity & Data PrivacyServe as the District's Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and liaison for student data privacy agreements.Develop, implement, and enforce cybersecurity policies and incident response procedures.Conduct regular cybersecurity audits, system vulnerability assessments, and compliance reviews in alignment with NIST or other accepted frameworks.Ensure full compliance with FERPA, CIPA, COPPA, and applicable state student data privacy regulationsInstructional Technology & InnovationLead the evaluation, procurement, and implementation of learning management systems, 1:1 device initiative, and instructional apps.Partner with academic leaders to support teacher training, instructional coaching, and effective digital learning practices.Oversee professional development planning related to educational technology tools and platforms.Personnel & Department ManagementSupervise and evaluate technology department staff, including system administrators, technicians, and building technology coordinators.Provide leadership coaching and performance evaluations for staff based on district goals and growth areas.Develop and enforce standard operating procedures and service response expectations for the technology team.Oversee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of all technology personnel. Budgeting & Resource ManagementDevelop and implement the technology budget; monitor expenditures and allocate resources effectively.Oversee E-Rate applications, federal/state grants, and capital improvement funding for technology infrastructure and programs.
