The Level 3 ISSO position is a senior or subject matter expert (SME) information system security professional who provides advice and assistance to the Government regarding secure configuration and operation of IT assets. Level 3 ISSOs apply extensive knowledge and experience of various information system security concepts, practices, and procedures. Candidates should possess all ISSO Level 1 and 2 qualifications, plus the following desired qualifications:

• Expertise with configuration management, system maintenance, and integration testing.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical configurations and recommend protections for classified and sensitive data.
• Expertise in tools used to prevent or negate malicious code.
• Expertise in detecting and preventing security compromises in networked environments.
• Knowledge of forensics chain of custody and evidentiary preservation.
• Proven ability to guide complex information systems through assessment and authorization processes.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex configuration management documents.
• Proficiency in maintaining databases.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable IC, DoD policies, procedures, and instructions related to IT, IA, and IM.
• Ability to work independently without close supervision.
• Effective at establishing and maintaining relationships with government and contractor personnel, security professionals, and mission partners.
• Ability to provide guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 ISSOs.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher with 8+ years of experience, OR Master's or higher with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR Associates degree with 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in information technology security, information systems security, and information assurance engineering.

Desired Qualifications:

• Education in computer engineering, information security, information management, or computer science.
• Experience in technical project management.

Contractors performing ISSO functions must possess or obtain within six months a professional Information Security (IS) certification appropriate for their role.
