Job Summary:
The Industrial Development Engineer is responsible for the process design, operation, and implementation of updates/changes. Will improve industrial processes in order to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability. The Industrial Development Engineer works at all stages of the manufacturing process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work safely in every case and promote safety at every interaction with associates.
- Collaborate with different departments to develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start-up and certification.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing tools (e.g. VSM, 5S, Kaizen) to enhance manufacturing processes and monitor progress.
- Assess processes, take measurements, and interpret data to support decision-making and improvements.
- Design, test, upgrade, and document systems and processes, including specifications for new facilities, equipment, and operations.
- Develop and implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output (OEE improvements).
- Manage weekly OEE meetings to track and drive performance improvements.
- Manage Operations Capex Projects from planning through execution.
- Maintain and update all production forms, documentation, and checklists to align with current procedures and operational requirements.
- Ensure the operations management system (Red Zone) is consistently clean, organized, and operating within established standards.
- Oversee ordering and inventory management of ink and other critical production supplies to support uninterrupted workflow.
- Coordinate and facilitate training sessions for Production team members to promote consistent knowledge and skill development.
- Organize, file, and maintain all Production-related documentation for efficient retrieval and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in industrial trials in collaboration with Production and R&D teams.
- Apply 5S principles when setting up new lines or equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned, beyond the scope of this job description.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in a continuous improvement role in food manufacturing working with VFFS, DoyPack, Bulk, Powder lines and Freeze-dried Chambers.
- Deep working knowledge of packaging software.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and requirements (prefer certification in HACCP or similar).
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Fluent in English. Fluent in Spanish a plus.
- Skilled in Microsoft suite.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified.
- PMP Certification preferred.
