Index Analyst - S&P Global : Job Details

The US/Canada Index Management team within the Global Index Management & Production Group manages a wide range high-profile indices including US and Canadian equities, dividend and thematic indices.

The Index Analyst is responsible for maintaining a wide range of indices. The Index Analyst is required to ensure that the indices are managed in accordance with their methodology, perform routine analysis and make presentations to Index Committees on a periodic basis.

An exciting opportunity to join the leading index provider. As an Index Analyst, you will work on a wide range of indices across global markets and analyze and implement complex index methodology, as well as solve non-routine problems on an on-going basis. As an Index Analyst, you will be responsible for all aspects of an assigned group of indices, make recommendations for index membership and present changes to index committees.

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $83,313 to $104,560. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience working with financial indices, equity analysis, research, or data analysis.
• Understanding of global financial markets and company fundamentals.
• Strong understanding of how indices are used, the impact of different methodologies, corporate event events on both indices and financial portfolios.
• Must be able to work independently on multiple projects with minimal direction or supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate work done by multiple people and / or groups.
• Must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities to solve original, non-routine problems in a timely and insightful manner.
• Superior computer skills in Excel, Word and related applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CFA or Advanced degree in business, math, economics, or finance strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Python, SQL, and/or VBA would be an advantage.
• Prior experience with corporate action research, stock-screening, index rebalancing preferred.
