We are humble but proud of our heritage, built on our commitment to quality products and our mostvalued asset, talented people who are invited to be themselves and enhance our distinctive and evolving workplace culture.ABOUT YOU:We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Import Specialist to manage and oversee all activities related to the importation of goods. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant international shipments, coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal departments to streamline the import process.WHAT DOES YOUR DAY JOB LOOK LIKE?
  • Manage all import shipments from origin to destination and ensure adherence to trade laws, licensing requirements, and sanctions programs (e.g., OFAC, EAR, ITAR)
  • Act as the main point of contact with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely delivery of goods
  • Monitor international trade regulations, tariffs, and customs requirements and send monthly reports to the leadership team and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with all import regulations, documentation, and reporting requirements
  • Prepare and review shipping documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, import declarations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes, and ECCNs
  • Manage internal audits and investigations related to trade compliance with the Finance team and recommend corrective actions as needed
  • Track and update shipment statuses, proactively addressing delays or issues
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Warehouse, Design and Finance departments to keep stakeholders informed and resolve discrepancies
  • Monitor and analyze freight costs, identifying and recommending opportunities for cost savings
  • Maintain accurate records of import activities to ensure compliance with internal audits
  • Determine product classification (HTS/ECCN) and country of origin for each product
  • Participate and champion trade compliance training efforts for internal teams
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into ERP or logistics management systems
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • 4+ years of experience in import logistics or international shipping coordination
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import documentation, and Incoterms
  • Experience with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Schedule B, ECCN classification, and free trade agreements
  • Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Familiarity with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) procedures (or the applicable country's customs regulations)
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle, or other logistics/ERP platforms
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred
