Position Overview

The Impact Manager (IM) leads a team of AmeriCorps members (ACMs), within a school environment in implementing the Whole School, Whole Child service model - to drive student and school achievement. The IM facilitates the ACM experience, skill-building, knowledge, and leadership development of AmeriCorps Members and ensures that all service requirements are met. In addition, the IM leads a department-wide initiative, to be determined by the Managing Director of Impact.

The starting salary for this position is $51,000-$53,000. This is a primarily in-person role.

Job DescriptionRESPONSIBILITIESAmericorps Member Program Delivery and Experience
  • Lead, manage, and coach a team of AmeriCorps members (between the ages of 18 - 25) to achieve service impact with students and to reach their leadership development potential.
  • Model leadership that reflects City Year's culture and values and create spaces that empower AmeriCorps members to access the power of City Year's culture and values in personally meaningful ways.
  • Effectively develop talent from within the corps for City Year and the larger education field, and lead AmeriCorps members to have a successful and rewarding year of service through their in-school service and leadership development curriculum.
Service Delivery and Impact
  • Implement City Year's Whole School, Whole Child whole class (tier 1) supports and one-on-one / small group (tier 2) interventions, ensuring AmeriCorps members are working with the right students, and achieving proper intervention and tutoring time with those students.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with school administration, teachers, and staff to ensure the necessary conditions and resources are in place for AmeriCorps members to deliver attendance coaching, student success skills coaching, and course performance interventions for students.
  • Partner directly with the Managing Director of Impact to provide observation and coaching to AmeriCorps members to improve their student interventions.
  • Conduct Student Progress Monitoring:
  • Oversee collection and input of intervention and outcome data into City Year's internal database.
  • Track data of all students enrolled in City Year's interventions to ensure dosage and student progress requirements are met.
  • In collaboration with the Managing Director of Impact, Analytics point, and Impact Director, analyze student-level data to strengthen overall service delivery at partner schools.
  • Oversee AmeriCorps member-led school climate activities and organizational initiatives, including after-school programming.
  • Operate student data systems and lead data analysis spaces to drive student achievement and AmeriCorps member performance growth.
Service Partner Management
  • Build and cultivate strong partnerships with teachers, principals, school officials, and other key decision makers and stakeholders within the partner school.
  • Partner closely with the school's leadership team, including the school's City Year liaison.
  • Manage the implementation of a school partnership agreement.
  • Facilitate collaboration between school partners and internal City Year teams.
Participation in Department & Organizational Initiatives
  • Participate in both individual and site-wide learning opportunities centered on community care and belonging, and the Whole School, Whole Child service model.
  • Contribute to AmeriCorps member learning by facilitating training sessions, as assigned by the Managing Director of Impact.
  • Contribute to Impact Department operations by leading out on at least one department level initiative and two to three committee supports that include delegating tasks, communicating across departments, attending planning meetings, and building external connections as needed.
  • Lead out on multiple site-wide initiatives or projects that include supporting cross-department teams.
  • Devote up to 10 days a year to AmeriCorps member recruitment interviews.
  • Assist with major site-wide events including but not limited to: Martin Luther King Day, Red Jacket Day, Annual Gala, Graduation, and other site-wide designated events.
  • Attend overnight professional events and other local and national events, as applicable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Demonstrated commitment to community care work, including desire to continue learning and building practices at City Year.
  • 2-4 years' experience in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, Youth Work, or another related field
  • City Year/AmeriCorps experience a plus. City Year and AmeriCorps alums are encouraged to apply!
  • Candidates with a background in teaching or education preferred urban education experience ideal.
  • Knowledge of Kansas City Public Schools is a plus.
  • Skills in basic data analysis and input

Compensation and Benefits:

The starting salary range for this position is $51,000 - $53,000. This is a primarily in-person role.

Full-time employees will be eligible for all benefits including vacation and sick days and organization holidays.
