Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Managed Care is seeking a Hybrid Unit Medical Director to provide medical leadership and primary care services at the Daniel Unit in Snyder and the Wallace Unit in Colorado City. This unique role offers the chance to practice medicine with purpose while enjoying a flexible, predictable schedule.

Hybrid Schedule:

  • One full week onsite at each unit per month.
  • Remote administrative work when offsite.
  • Participate in an after-hours/weekend rotation with other providers (phone support only).

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as the Unit Health Authority for both facilities
  • Provide primary ambulatory care to incarcerated patients, including assessments, diagnostics, and treatment planning
  • Offer immediate care for emergencies involving inmates, staff, and visitors
  • Refer and coordinate care with medical specialists as needed
  • Perform minor surgical and orthopedic procedures within your scope
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to nursing staff, physician extenders, and a clinical pharmacist
  • Interact with correctional administrators to help shape unit policy
  • Oversee hiring, training, performance, and management of clinical personnel
  • Maintain thorough and compliant medical records
