Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Service Manager to oversee all aspects of commercial cooling service operations. This role is remote-first, with regular domestic travel, and offers the opportunity to lead a growing service organization, manage technical staff and subcontractors, and drive customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. The Service Manager will report to the Director of Service Operations and play a key role in shaping the service strategy and growth of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical resource for service technicians, providing guidance on troubleshooting, diagnostics, installation, and repair techniques. Stay current with advancements in commercial cooling technology.
- Lead and manage service teams and subcontractors, providing training, guidance, and performance oversight.
- Oversee emergency response operations to ensure service calls are addressed promptly, including 24/7 coverage.
- Manage customer relationships, resolve escalations, and track customer satisfaction.
- Assist in defining service team goals, performance targets, and business objectives.
- Oversee daily service operations including preventative maintenance, repair, installation, and technical support.
- Drive profitable growth through timely, quality service delivery and cost-effective operations.
- Organize and facilitate monthly service operation reviews, identifying areas for improvement.
- Support service leadership in negotiating service contracts and managing third-party service providers.
- Represent the organization at trade shows, seminars, and educational events.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in HVAC/R systems and commercial or industrial cooling operations.
- HVAC/R license required.
- Experience managing and developing subcontractors.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role overseeing both technical and business operations.
- Excellent communication, business presentation, and public speaking skills.
- College degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications and ability to prepare reports, presentations, and client documentation.
