DescriptionWe are seeking motivated and detail-oriented early-career professionals to join our Humanitarian Operations Center (HOC) Support team. These individuals will play a critical role in maintaining 24/7 situational awareness and coordination across global operational sites. This position is ideal for professionals with 3–5 years of experience, particularly those with a background in international humanitarian efforts, NGOs, or governmental agencies. Successful candidates will thrive in dynamic, high-stakes environments where effective communication, critical thinking, and mission support are essential.This role is located onsite in the Middle East. Travel may be required 50% to 100% of the time.
Roles & Responsibilities
Provide round-the-clock operational monitoring and communications support within the HOC across assigned sites.Maintain situational awareness of global operations and ensure accurate and timely reporting of incidents and events.Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal teams, field staff, and partner organizations.Monitor intelligence sources, news feeds, and emergency alerts to support proactive risk assessments.Maintain detailed logs, prepare shift reports, and support escalation protocols as needed.Operate and maintain communication tools, software platforms, and operations center equipment.Contribute to the development and refinement of HOC standard operating procedures (SOPs).Support incident response and crisis management efforts in real-time.Participate in regular training and readiness exercises to maintain operational effectiveness.Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in international relations, political science, emergency management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in operations, security, or communications support.
- Experience supporting field operations in conflict zones, disaster response, or high-risk environments, especially in the Middle East.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with situational awareness or incident management tools.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in support of 24/7 operations.
- Able to travel or deploy to international field locations as needed.
- Must be willing to travel internationally, including active conflict zones. Travel may range from 50% to 100% of the time, depending on operational needs and assignment schedules.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with major international NGOs (e.g., Save the Children, Doctors Without Borders, CARE) and/or United Nations agencies (e.g., UNICEF, UNHCR, UN Women) strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with global security dynamics and risk assessment frameworks.
- Experience in an operations center, dispatch, or emergency management environment.
- Multilingual abilities, especially in high-risk regional languages (Arabic strongly preferred).
- Previous deployment or field experience in austere or conflict-affected environments.
- Certification in emergency management, security operations, or crisis communications (e.g., ICS, NIMS, CEM).
Physical & Travel Requirements
- This role requires extensive international travel, including active conflict zones. Travel may range from 50% to 100% of the time, depending on operational needs and assignment schedules.
- Candidates must be physically capable of working in demanding environments, including those with limited infrastructure and elevated safety risks.
- The position involves frequent standing, walking, and physical activity throughout the day.
- Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Assignments may involve deployment to regions experiencing active conflict or instability, including designated war zones. All employees must comply with company safety protocols and training requirements related to high-risk travel.
