Through its public programs, the Graduate Center enhances New York City's intellectual and cultural life.The Office of Human Resources (OHR) supports a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive employee community at the Graduate Center and at its affiliated CUNY colleges and professional schools, which include Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, Macaulay Honors College and School of Labor and Urban Studies. The HR Manager for Graduate Assistants and Adjuncts will manage the graduate assistant and adjunct population at the GC and its professional schools. This position reports to the Deputy Director of HR.Duties include but are not limited to:Assesses workflows/procedures to identify redundancies, gaps/flaws; in consultation with senior HR leaders, plan and execute corrective actions to eliminate inefficiencies to build more robust and effective operation(s)/service(s); monitors and assesses progress via established metrics, and adjusts as needed.Performs audits on system(s) entries, records, etc. to ensure data accuracy and alignment with college's and CUNY's standards; rectifies data issues.Manages and develops staff; establishes and conveys performance and productivity standards; assesses/gauges service/performance levels and takes corrective action as needed.Serves as a thought partner with internal and external constituents to devise service/operations enhancement strategies and tactics; executes tactics, monitor and provide feedback.Partakes in or leads meetings and/or projects; serves as HR representative on Graduate Assistant and Adjunct matters; develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as reference and/or training guides; establishes and maintains units' contingency plans; ensures that staff's knowledge and skills are current and at standard.Audits entries in our systems to ensure accuracy in data submitted for payment; partners with Payroll to investigate and resolve pay issues.Partners with Deputy Director of HR to facilitate salary advancements for Graduate Assistants, when necessary; monitors and tracks repayments.Investigates complex matters related to employment; prepares findings/reports and recommends corrective actions; collaborates with Provost Office, Business Office, Payroll Central, International Students Office, etc., to resolve situations as needed.Overall responsibility for planning, executing and managing the One Stop (Graduate Assistant Orientations) process.Perform other related duties as needed.All full-time and part-time CUNY staff are expected to work in-person at their campus office 70% of their work time. For full-time staff, this is equivalent to 7 out of 10 days of in-person work in a two-week period (e.g., 7 days in-person, 3 days remote). This hybrid work schedule is subject to change.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.A preferred candidate should have:Working knowledge of HR systems (i.e., CUNYFirst), Graduate Assistant and Adjunct populations.Previous supervisory experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to prioritize tasks, be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
