Position Summary:

The HR Director will establish and lead a formal Human Resources function across Xcel Ventures' portfolio of companies. This role is responsible for strategic oversight and management of talent acquisition, employee benefits, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations. The HR Director will serve as a trusted advisor to executives, fostering a positive organizational culture, enhancing employee satisfaction, and driving HR initiatives that align with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent across multiple entities.
  • Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process: job postings, resume screening, interviewing, and hiring decisions.
  • Lead onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a seamless integration of new hires.
  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers to forecast staffing needs and optimize workforce planning.

Employee Relations, Culture & Performance Management:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and conflict resolution.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging work environment.
  • Lead initiatives to build and reinforce company culture, including employee engagement programs and recognition events.
  • Coach managers on performance management, feedback, and effective communication strategies.
  • Design and implement a performance management program, including:
  • Goal-setting frameworks aligned with company objectives
  • Regular performance reviews and feedback cycles
  • Metrics to track individual and team performance
  • Leadership coaching and development for managers to improve evaluation consistency
  • Recognition and reward programs to motivate high performance

Benefits & Compensation:

  • Handle enrollments, changes, and terminations while resolving employee inquiries.
  • Evaluate and recommend innovative benefits to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive compensation program, including salary structures, pay grades, and bonus/incentive plans aligned with company strategy.
  • Conduct market benchmarking and internal equity analyses to ensure competitive, fair, and sustainable compensation practices.
  • Partner with management to review and approve compensation adjustments, promotions, and performance-based incentives.

Compliance & HR Operations:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for audits and internal reviews.
  • Oversee HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency across all companies.

Training & Development:

  • Identify training needs and coordinate programs to support employee development.
  • Track training participation and compliance with required certifications.
  • Partner with leadership to develop programs that enhance employee skills and leadership capabilities.

Administrative Oversight:

  • Manage HR communications, meetings, and documentation.
  • Streamline HR processes to improve operational efficiency and employee experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 6+ years of progressive HR experience, including 2+ years in a management-level role.
  • Proven expertise in talent acquisition, benefits administration, and employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing HR across multiple business units is a plus.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
