This position plays a key role in supporting HR administrative functions. This includes coordinating the recruitment and onboarding process, overseeing employee leaves and accommodation, assisting with employee HR inquiries, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Recruitment & OnboardingCoordinate and standardize end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.Post job openings and collaborate with the Communications team to support recruitment through social media.Support recruitment initiatives, including outreach to local communities and colleges.Pre-screen applicants, conduct screening reviews, schedule interviews, verify references, and prepare job offers.Support hiring managers through the recruitment process, ensuring consistency and compliance with policies and best practices.Maintain job requisitions and up-to-date job descriptions for all positions.Support pre-employment processes such as background checks and educational verifications.Employee Relations & ComplianceEnsure personnel policies, postings, and procedures are compliant.Support with monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., I-9s, IIPP, Workplace Violence Prevention Program, required postings).Support with coordinating administrative tasks related to employee relations, including interview scheduling.Records, Leaves, & BenefitsMaintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records in compliance with legal requirements and internal policies.Coordinate the administration of leaves of absence, accommodation requests, and workers' compensation claims.Assist with responding to employee questions related to HR policies, benefits, and procedures.Training, Development & CultureCoordinate and support training development and delivery on workplace policies, compliance, and professional developmentSupport employee wellness, safety, and engagement initiatives.Leadership & Department SupportCoordinate implementation of HR strategies that align with the organization's workforce planning, recruitment, and talent development goals.Support HR team members, interns, and volunteers as assigned.Continuous ImprovementStay informed about HR best practices, legal updates, and emerging tools or technology.Contribute to development and continuous improvements in HR systems, processes, and service delivery.Other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsMinimum three (3) years of professional experience in human resources or a related administrative roleExperience with full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing candidates, screening applications, and coordinating the interview and selection process.Familiarity with applicant tracking systems, recruiting platforms and job boardsProven ability to coordinate onboarding logisticsUnderstanding of onboarding/off-boarding and compliance-related documentationBasic knowledge of employee benefitsProficiency in maintaining HRIS data accuracyDetail-oriented with good organizational skills for documentation and follow-upsKnowledge of labor laws and HR compliance standardsAbility to maintain employee records in compliance with legal requirementsStrong interpersonal and written communication skillsAbility to coordinate with multiple departments and work collaborativelyProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)Comfort with digital HR tools and platformsAbility to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and recordsDeep commitment to CAIR-CA's mission to defend civil rights and build community power, with comfort supporting HR functions in a mission-driven, culturally diverse, and engaged workplacePreferred QualificationsSHRM-CP, PHR, or a degree in Human Resources or a related fieldUnderstanding of HR in a nonprofit setting for culturally diverse workplaceInterest or experience in improving HR processes and employee experienceFamiliarity with federal and California employment lawsTO APPLY: Submit a cover letter, resume, and three professional references.CAIR-CA is an equal opportunity employer and adheres to all federal, state, and local laws prohibiting employment discrimination.Salary: $28.00 - $33.00 per hourJob Posted by ApplicantProSeniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior levelEmployment type Employment type Full-timeJob function Job function Human ResourcesIndustries Civic and Social OrganizationsReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at CAIR-CA by 2xSign in to set job alerts for “Human Resources Coordinator” roles.
