As an HR Business Partner supporting our Operations and G&A functions—including Legal, Finance, Coach Operations, InfoSec and the People team—you'll play a key role in enabling these teams to scale with clarity, accountability, and agility. You'll serve as a thoughtful, business-savvy partner to senior managers, helping them build strong teams, make sound people decisions, and foster a culture of ownership and growth. You'll also play a central role in managing performance and employee relations within our People team—ensuring we role-model excellence in how we coach, develop, and support one another.

What you'll do:

  • Partner with leaders across Operations, G&A, and the People team to align talent decisions with business strategy, anticipating needs as teams evolve.

  • Guide managers through key performance management moments, helping calibrate expectations, deliver feedback, and address issues early and effectively.

  • Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations, supporting the resolution of complex situations with empathy, fairness, and sound judgment.

  • Help teams define roles, responsibilities, and org structures that support speed, clarity, and execution.

  • Bring a coaching mindset to your work—supporting new managers as they grow into leadership and encouraging teams to navigate change with resilience.

  • Use people data and trends to diagnose team health, surface risks, and inform decisions.

  • Contribute to AI-enabled HR practices by identifying opportunities to improve performance cycles, internal support, or insights using automation and intelligent tools.

  • Collaborate with HRBPs and COEs to improve tools, frameworks, and guidance for managers across the company.

  • Support the People team's internal effectiveness, contributing to rhythms like calibrations, listening cycles, and HR team development.

If you have some or all of the following, please apply:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in HR, including 3-5+ years as an HRBP or business-facing advisor

  • Comfortable navigating sensitive performance and employee relations issues with nuance and discretion

  • Strong communication skills—you know how to coach managers and influence without authority

  • Analytical and systems-minded; you enjoy using org data and tooling to drive better decisions

  • Experience supporting G&A or operational functions (Legal, Finance, People) is a plus

  • Interest in using AI and automation to streamline and elevate HR workflows

At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.

The base salary range for this role is $102,000.00 - $152,000.00

If you live in New York, the base salary range for this role is:

  • $118,000.00 - $176,000.00: New York City

  • $102,000.00 - $152,000.00: Albany, Buffalo, Nassau, Newburgh, Rochester
